Well, how on earth DO you tell the difference between a Silkie hen and a Silkie roo? Will you have to sit and watch who goes into the nest boxes?

WHERE IS GLORIA JEAN?????????????????? Cloud laid her first egg today!!!!!!!!! Hooray for little Cloud!

Cetawin, there is a family resemblence, isn't there? I love the intelligence in Ultrasuede's expressions, you could always see that in your pics of Thor, too. And Silk and Satin and Cloud have it to some extent also - Suede done good in his kids and grands!

Oh Cetawin,
I need to send you a pic. I have a new splash orp., and I think it is a male about 9 weeks old. It does have the light legs and all. He is soooo sweet. He comes to me and I pick him up too. His father did not do that. I think I will have a great new orp roo. The way he turns his head and looks at me reminds me of Thor. I am going to squeeze him and love him and love him good.

This one is going to be well handled! My Stormy has a new home. I hope he is happy. He was wrecking havack on the ladies in my flock. He also would not let me touch him. This will be Suedes grandson. With Suedes daughter Maxine my blue orp. Love to all Gloria Jean

Since I hear no crowing, I am thinking all 4 of them are girls!

I put my Splash roo in with them today. You know, the Alpha roo of the property! In this picture he has lost most of his crest while molting ....

I,ll have to take some pic,s tomorrow. He is precious. I will try to keep up more with this typing. I have lost a lot of cartilage in my hands and some days its just no use trying. I spend my time editting most of all. I also have three Dellies that have just come into lay. I think they have pinced tails but I love them. They are Lucky, Lucy and Lady. I will try to get some pict's of them too. My older hens should have been put in the worst molting page. They are so sad right now. Gloria Jean

CETAWIN. we must have words.

why must everything involving YOU involve ROOSTERS?

I took a look at your girls children today.

blue wheaten....ROOSTER

BOTH blacks....ROOSTERS

the blue and 2 'yellow' chicks are still a tossup.....blue has a tiny comb but not many feathers...1 yellow looks boyish, 1 is girly looking. both are whiteish with blue splashes....not true 'splashes' but similar to my white birds with black flecks

Ah, LH is just a man magnet -

GLoria Jean, I would love to see pics - and I am so sorry for your hands - it's good to know you are still here, though!

Kathy- I forgot about that fluffball roo. He is pretty studly. Gonna raise some more silkies?

Nella- what are you going to do when you run out of room to put all the stuff you build?

I bought those two 'bators. I broke. I cracked. I did it. I am now eligible for hatching mania.

I know I have hatched over a hundred Silkies this year, and have only a few here. I doubt I will hatch more til next year (maybe), unless one of the girls goes broody and hatches her own. I hope not through the winter though. If one of those buffs in not a roo, I will not be able to have buffs, because I sold their parents. One nice thing about the Silkies is that they don't take up much room. When full grown, I have to clip their crests, because they are so full that they just can't see. I have never seen them fight or argue either. LOL
