Evening everyone....I am just popping in to update everyone as I am sick as a whipped dog myself...the weather is not helping but it is nothing....so update on my sister:

Mayo Clinic set her an appointment in PA fo Dec 30th which we were bumming a little about because it is so far from family well Mayo contacted her today and changed her appointment to Monday, Dec 6th in Jacksonville, FL which is only 5 hours from her home and my parents.

This is the doctor that will be doing her evaluation and treatment....

So we are moving forward and no longer mickey mousing around with the two local ninnies (neurologist and neurosurgeon) that were clueless and arguing over a diagnosis. Both of whom, I should probably mention, fear me worse than death at this moment according to my father. They are both of the opinion that I am a heartless, unmerciful, demanding, rude, nasty, intimidating, commanding biotch. Well apparently my father instructed them both to stop screwing around with my little sister's life and refer her to someone that could help and he would then calm me down. I am of the opinion do your job and if you can't then find someone qualified who can; which is what I told them both, more or less.

So please keep the prayers coming because we are not out of the woods yet, frankly we are just entering them.

Yes well I called both of them an unloaded with both barrels and unfortunately when I am that ticked off I can verbally take the strongest ego down to a pile of wiggly jello...they both made the same mistake of saying the same thing to me...

"Now Mrs. Smith I understand your concern but you must understand...."

THAT did it...they quickly learned I understood far more than they thought and in some cases more than either of them. I have spent more hours researching this nightmare, reading scans, reports, test results and such than the two of them combined obviously.

when you get to a point that you have been there and done it all and everything is routine to you...it is time to retire.

Okay off to a hot bath

Sad news tonight......came home to 3 dead babies in the barred cochin brooder. Not sure if they fell out of the nest and froze, got squashed or what. 2 were stuck between the back of the litterbox and the wall....and one was along the front door. Very weird. Momma was still being very motherly to the rest of them.....so who knows.

So I took a baby gate and split the rir/cochin brooder in half. Barred cochin momma and 6 remaining babies get left half, rir/cochin and 9 babies get right half. Unfortunately, the new babies can fit through the baby gate......one was already stolen by the rir/cochin hen. She tucked it right under her butt and was happy as can be, clucking away...her babies are much bigger now.

Will upload pix in a few. Sigh.

Mama's head is always blurry as she was busy showing her babies how to eat.

I should probably build a divider specifically for this brooder. Even divided in half, each brooder is 3x4.

LadyHawk, Hoping for the best for your sis! Glad to hear she doesn't have to wait so long to get in.

Nella, Oh, crap! I hate it when babies die. I know what you are talking about, too. I had the exact same thing happen .... I found one dead chick in between the litter box nest and the wall. I quit using it as a nest after that, and they just used the floor area (rabbit hutch). That brooder you have is a very nice one. I love seeing the pictures of the mamas and babies!

I am sorry to hear that. I've had a chick fall out of the nest and not be able to get back in and die in the night. It does break the heart.

Aw dang Nella, I'm sorry to hear that
