Oh, I really am sorry to hear about your father. That sucks.

Maybe you should take Lexie indoors? My friend currently has one living in her shower...

I would hate to see a BR go at this time of year! Or anytime...

Well, it happened. My chickens' water froze, and I'm ordering the heated dog dish. Who would've thought it'd happen in ATL?

But it's cooollllldddd outside!

And now I'm decorating the Christmas tree!

Just to let everyone know how my day started - perhaps this has happened to you . I have an early meeting - it is desks all in a square basically and i see a coworker staring at my feet thru out the whole thing - course it is early and i am slumped a bit in my chair. Only to have her come to me afterwards and say what the heck is on the bottom of your shoe- I kick my foot up to realize that i had gone into the barn in my work clothes to do chores this morning and had stepped in a present from my chickens. It was all smashed into the tread of my shoe - lots of straw stuck in it and a nice bright white Del feather :

Nice - real nice -

Awww Knox, your girls just wanted you to think about them while you're at work, slaving away to provide for them.

It's their way of letting you know they love you!

Things are warming up here in the great frozen North. Much to my dismay! I despise mud!

Forecast looks crappy all the way through the weekend and straight into next week. We don't get back to the freezing mark for daytime highs at all for the foreseeable future. Have I mentioned lately how much I hate, hate, HATE RAIN!!??

Even our overnight lows are going to be above the freezing mark for the most part. Mud City, here we come!
rant.gif
And believe me, the chickens ain't to happy about the news. They're not what you could call "fond" of mud either! Nor rain!

Depending on just how much rain we get, we'll probably loose all of our lovely white snow by the end of the weekend.

And then everything will be nothing but muddy brown and boring! YUCK! I want my snow back, and I want it back RIGHT NOW!!!! How in the heck is anyone supposed to get in the holiday spirit of things when they're surrounded by MUD !?!?!

On a lighter note, everyone got a nice great big pumpkin for breakfast this morning!
wee.gif
Kathy, you should've seen the girls pounding down the seeds like there was no tomorrow!
lol.png
They knew just what those were for! You must have given them some pumpkin seeds before you sent them up, eh? They sure didn't waste any time looking at them, trying to figure out what they were. Just slurp! Slurp! Slurp! Maggie didn't even manage to get in there and get her share before they were all gone!
lol.png

OK, I have tons of stuff to get done today, not the least of which is trying to get to town to send out some packages in the hopes that they'll get to their destination in time for Christmas! Y'all have a super day, and don't forget to hug your chickens!

I hear ya, Amy ..... I have run errands all day. Tryin' to get things done so I can go to the show in Shawnee, Oklahoma on Friday. Busy busy busy here today...

My birds are still getting pumpkins left over from fall reduced prices. I am nearing the end of them though. They sure do love them.

You can have your snow back, Amy. I sure do not want it!

No kiddin...Amy keep the cold frozen stuff up your way please. They are calling for a chance of "significant" snowfall in N Georgia Mon/Tues of next week.....yuk

Never got above freezing here today

TEST RESULTS - the hot hands handwarmers under a clay pot "bottom" with the waterer on top of it worked!! It was 19 here this morning and I had moved the waterers into the coop, but NO ICE. Remember if you do this that the handwarmers need a small bit of air to generate the heat. Can't be something that seals tightly to the floor.

Well Lord have mercy we may get another 8-12" tonight and I spent most of the day just clearing snow. The darn leach field hasn't frozen and is mud and I had to put a heater to thaw the blower out before I could do the drive. I can probably do it again before bed tonight.

Chickens don't mind the cold to much as it isn't really cold, cold. Grounds still soft.

Now I have to tell ya. My DIL filed a "family" mail change when they moved from her to AL and our mail got all messed up, Lord have mercy! Darn thing is the PO notifies others about the change like credit cards and banks and even our AAA. So when I got the mail from them in AL , surprise , surprise, I was now a AAA member in Prattville , AL. Isn't that nice?

I was nice when I called to get things fixed and said maybe it's a sign from God that we are to move to AL. Course it will take much more than that to get me to move there, but I will tell you this. It would have been much easier to move to AL than getting everything changed back to Syracuse , NY. And I haven't even notified the credit agencies.

Of course getting the PO to stop forwarding our mail is not easy at all. One wonders what it is they do all day cuz it has been months, (July) and they still are forwarding mail. Even after three phone calls and a visit to the PO.

Now on a happier note. My GD has taken to chicken therapy. When she gets cranky we just show her the chicks and she's good for a few more hours. I call it the new happy meal.

I can read her thoughts exactly- "YOU CALL THIS A MC NUGGET? " "WHAT NO FRIES?"

Well, I see that Sdwd has slowed down a bit lately??

BRRRR... it's SO cold here... and we live in an 85 year old house which does NOT help! But on the bright side, there's a lot of trees in my yard, so to break the ice off my waterers I just slam them against a big tree and all of the ice breaks.

We learned a new number in my play... and it's called the SPANISH PANIC! AAARIBA!
