I'm gonna try something.

I keep "Hothands" handwarmers around for hunting and skiing, etc, etc. I think I will put the waterers in the coop tomorrow night and place a hothands "under" the stand I put the waterer on. Supposed to last 8-10 hrs, completely safe, non-toxic, no chance of fire, relativley cheap (package of 6 is like $1.97 at Wally-World). Temps are suppose to be in the teens here tomorrow night....should be a decent test

Will let y'all know how it works

HEY, we have some of those around here! The railroad hands them out sometimes, so I think Mike has a drawer of them somewhere. I am anxious to hear how your test goes! Great idea!

That sounds like a right nifty idea there Scott. I bet they would work swell for under an old girl who needs a little extra warmth. Yeah, one of my girls could sure use something like that right now. I'll have to look around, as I think we have a handful of those around here too.

My kids are doing fine with their buckets for now. I have one of those red bottomed waterers, but no matter where I put it, it ends up being closely related to a cesspool in a matter of minutes!

And I don't even know how they manage to crap it up so quickly! Seriously! I put it in nice and clean and fresh as a daisy, come back in less than ten minutes and it looks like I haven't cleaned it in a week!

*sigh* Like I said, the buckets are working great for both the birds and me right now. I guess I'll stick with that until I find something better.

As promised, I went out and snaped a few quick ones of Chief, Maggie and the girls. Though sadly, I think I was too late this evening to get that really sweet picture of Maggie cuddling up under Chiefs chin.

Why is it, once I finally remember to do something like this, they ain't cooperating?
roll.png
Anyway, they were still sweet to watch even if they didn't give me the poses I wanted.

In this first one, I think Chief was trying to get GeeGee on his left to snuggle up a little tighter. As you can see, she's still one of his more favorite girls, but Maggie is definitely pulling a strong second!

Here's Chief and Maggie having a little pillow talk of their own.

And lastly, here's everyone together, all cuddled up and trying to sleep....if I'd just get that blasted flashing thingy out of their faces!

Hey, just for the fun of it:....here's a few I snapped earlier this morning inside of the house with Jasper and DeeDaa. I gotta laugh at that silly cat. In this picture, she was at the top of the ladder going up to the lofts and completely freaking out!

011-5.jpg

And why was she freaked out you ask? Because Jasper didn't look as he normally should! That's why! Meet Jasper the Black Nosed Reign Dog!

He just loves all of the attention he gets when he has his antlers on!

Oooh! And lookie here! I finally got off my butt and finished trimming out the Christmas Tree!

Sorry the picture is so crappy. I'll try for a better one later.

OH, and one more for Kathy, since she's so jazzed on seeing pictures of progress on the house. I finally finished the bulk of the laundry room floor!

It's porcelain tile. All that is left to do on it now is to do something with that big bare spot in the middle. That's the hatch leading to the root cellar under the house. I still haven't decided just what I'm going to put on that. Certainly something lighter than porcelain tile, that's for sure! Two weeks and counting down to the arrival of our new washer and dryer!!

Anyhow, that's what's happening in our neck of the woods. It's been a long day folks. I think I'm gonna at least try to turn in early.

Amy, the tile job looks wonderful. You did a great job! 2 weeks and you'll have your machines .... YAY!!! Before ya know it, you will be totally finished with the mansion! It is fabulous, for sure! What an adventure. I love your BYC page. Mike sat at the computer and read every word, looked at every picture, and carried on and on about it all day.

Awwww, Jasper in front of the Christmas tree, with his antlers on! That could be a Christmas card!

Chief is lovin' it between the girls, isn't he now..... awwww, so sweet. Maggie with her kids on one side and the man of her dreams on the other.... well, now, what more could she want!
lol.png
Oh, those spoiled birds of yours, Amy .... they just look terrific! I love locking up at night, counting heads, checking them all, and listening to their goodnight noises.

Thanks for the pictures, Amy! Keep 'em comin'!!

I LOVE love love the one of Jasper smiling! The next one he is like - ok i humored you for a minute gave you a nice smile and shot - now get these blasted things off my head! LOL

Scott really wanting to heat about the test results on the warm hands - my crew has water outside that i keep going out and kicking to get the ice off of - made a small spot under the one stair well where i have a little chicken winter get away - water food - and a tiny heat lamp - jsut scares me a bit - but like i said since they basically live in a bar there is electric all over ....but would prefer not to have a heater on - So far tho they are not seeming to hate the cold - we went down to 8 last night - high of 23 today! Woohoo - break out the tank tops and surf shorts!

Breaking ice was not an option this morning. Everything is frozen SOLID. I brought a bucket of water out and some cheapie dog bowls, and all the small pens got a bowl of fresh water. I will bring them in tonight and then repeat...........the big yard got their big 3 gallon dishes refilled. The ducks were having a party in one of them when I left, so I don't doubt that they will be empty soon. I may take the 3 gallon waterer back from the mottled cochin pen, since it is frozen solid, and add it to the big yard somewhere.

Snowing lightly when I left but not bad at all. Supposed to be colder today and tonight though! I took a quick glance in the garage before I left and all seemed well.

The birds are getting a lot of scratch. And scrambled eggs. I had trouble shutting the coop door last night as there was poop frozen on the doorjam. LOL. I tried to pick up the dog's frozen poopsicles from last night and had to kick em loose. It was actually quite funny. Yay for frozen poop! LOL.

Definitely avoid the colored snow! Yellow, brown, orange.....no colored snow for me, thankyouverymuch.

My favorite part of it all was when my young obnoxious dog went to grab her stuffed duck and it was frozen to the deck
gig.gif
A hilarious one dog game of tug of war ensued. She did eventually "break" it off the deck, but it was quite entertaining. She was BAFFLED.

Kathy...those waters Brock is referring to our the better deal if you think about it...

1 gallon heated doggie dish $16 x 3 = $ 48
3 gallon heated fountain $35

My heat lamps are in no way coming down or getting near the bedding, my only chance of fire would be if I had a major power short and with grounded plugs and surge protector that is a slim chance.

Everyone here is fine and dandy...I am slowly recovering but still battling this sinus crudola ack.

Gotta run out for errands and buy some hay for Jo so be back later...
