I know you were lookin forward to this!!! If its not the fluid, it could be the power steering pump, or a loose belt, or a tweaked pulley. My truck has the same prob, we're hoping a new pump does it. We've got the part, just yet to change it out.

Hope yall are doin well and stayin warm!!

RATS! Kathy, how disappointing for you! I wish there was a vehicle you could borrow - rent? Steal? Murphy's Law - there will probably be more JG and Dels for sale there than we every thought!!! Rats, rats, rats!

Cetawin, hope you are feeling better - did Jo make it through the nasty weather in fine fettle? Is she home yet?

Nella, I hope you can get that dog, I really do.

Cyn- Maybe Lexie just doesn't like the cold - ????

Good morning Nicole, Amy, Knox and everyone else.

I do feel so bad for you kathy - i was like a kid at Xmas waiting to go to the show here in Ohio
Good morning all!

Good Morning to you too Beth!

Oh Kathy! Rats! Nuts! And darn it all anyhow!!!

I'm sorry to hear that you won't be making it to Shawnee. I really was looking forward to seeing just how overboard you were going to go with the purchase of new blood lines!

Consider it Divine Intervention my dear. You may have unwittingly brought something home that was a bit more than feathers and flesh.
wink.png
Just tell yourself that you didn't really want to go anyway. And you have eggs in the incubator due tomorrow, no? Maybe it's best that you be home for that as well! It's just such a bummer when things don't turn out like we had planned.

As for your car, what make, model and year is it? Is it manual or automatic? It may be that your filter for the power steering fluid needs changing. Or, more likely, you have a loose belt or a failing power steering pump. Oh how I wish Mike were home. I might know a bit about these things, but usually it is Denny that deals with them. Hey! Why else did I marry a mechanic if not to be able to avoid performing auto repair on my own vehicle?!?
gig.gif
Well, whatever the ailment is that your car is suffering, I hope that it is inexpensive to fix. And easy too! Nothing worse than trying to do car repairs in the middle of winter!

Well, time to go tend the Mongrel Hordes. Uuugghhh! Just the thought of slogging through all that mud and slush and ice and rain! Ick! Just ICK!!
tongue.gif
I came close a number of times to winding up on my butt on account of all the rain topped ice out here! And that's on flat ground! Just imagine what it would be like if I had to cope with slopes like Nella!

Not with my back, TYVM! Hope everyone has a pleasant day. Bundle up, stay warm and don't forget to hug your chickens!!!

Serrin, you always crack me up!

I haven't heard anything from the rescue in 2 days, regardless of my own repeateded attempts at contact.....so its not looking well. Oh well, there are plenty of pets out there needing to be rescued. Still frustrating though!

Planning on scrambling a miillion duck eggs this evening and bringing a few boxes of roosters to hand off to their new owner. I expect them to become delicious meals soon, but that is fine with me.

Listed a bunch of bantam hens for sale last night. Really wanting to downsize......Planning on keeping all of my "big" birds, but want to sell most of my bantams and greatly cut down on the rooster population.

I'm just curious....what are the size requirements for a rooster to be considered a "Bantam" class? I keep looking at CB and I can't help but think to myself that there must be banty in there someplace. Even though I don't recall seeing any such in the Anderberg flock, that doesn't mean they weren't there, or that there aren't remnants of bantams in their bloodlines. Their entire flock is nothing but mutts. If not straight up mutts, then hatchery birds, and that pretty much means the same thing these days, doesn't it?
hu.gif
Anyhow, I'm just curious if anyone knows the answer to that question. I'm betting that little hellion is pretty darn close to being bantam! Doesn't really matter. I love him regardless!

He's such a little turd with a 'tude!

Hmm....i think the bantam size requirements are more specific to each breed than in general. A bantam cochin might be smaller (or larger) than a bantam Golden Campine, for example.

I have a pair of young chickens....they are maybe about 5 months old now? 1 girl, 1 boy.....they are silkie x LF ee rooster. They are the size of regular LF birds. Definitely took after the EE side. Hilarious looking chickens. They are a matched pair and incredibly cute. Wish someone wanted them for kicks.

Meeting someone at 7pm tonight to take all my extra roosters. Planning on getting rid of 2 LF silver laced cochins (including the jerk I almost killed the other day), 1 golden campine and at least 6 and possibly more bantam cochins. I'm sure they will be delicious nuggets
wink.png
I'm just going to go into the coop with a box and start grabbing all the boys in sight.

Going to keep my 2 LF Blue cochins, 1 blue wheaten ameracauna, 2 bantam mottled cochins, 1 bantam mille fleur cochin, 1 porcelain d'uccle, 1 extremely stunted gold laced bantam cochin...and my older blue brahma project boy. Plus the silkieEE boy. So that is 10 roosters. Down from over 20.

Go me

Welcome back, Cyn. So sorry to hear about Lexie! I've lost tooooo many this year.

Kathy, what is this, a broody winter?? Seems like we're all getting em. Ehhhh. And so sorry to hear about your car! That sucks. Hopefully you'll get to go again another time soon.

Not much is going on... but I've had finals this and next week and have had to do sooooooo much studying

I tried all morning to see if I could possibly still make it to Oklahoma .... no go ...
My neighbor looked at my car and says it is the pump thingy that he thinks needs replaced. Though it would probably be okay, but hard to steer the car, I just can't take that chance. You are right, Amy, it was likely divine intervention! I had a few things on my mind to look for there .... Jersey Giants, Brahmas, and of course Delawares. I didn't plan to buy any Dels, just look.

A couple good things cheered me up, as I whined and moped around .... Eggs came in the mail, for the NYDay hatch, AND..... drum roll ..... I got my first egg from pen # 2....

Ohhhhh, you ask, what is pen 2? ha .... that is THE project pen..... Big ol Barred Rock roo over those lovely New Hampshire girls! It was even IN the nest, too! I do also have one lone BR girl in there, too. She is my only girl from my April hatch, and not related to my other Rocks. She needed some place to hang out, so there she is.

2 dozen large fowl Cochin eggs ..... (I broke one)...

15 Black Copper Marans ..... doing a test hatch and keeping records for a friend ....

AND .... I still have 2 pens that are not covered. Since Miss Floozy is safely penned now, I have another girl who thought she would give it try. The past 3 days, this is what I see ..... She seems quite proud of herself....

And who is the dark beauty taking Miss Floozy's place on the top rails?
