Thank you Nick!

I know you had a really rough day today. I am so sorry for your loss. And I bet you're right. I betcha that Clarissa is right now, right this very moment, cuddling up on your Grandma's lap. She loved lap time, and especially loved it with people who liked to have her on their lap. So, if your grandma was the kind to enjoy having a sweet little hen snuggled up on her lap, then I'm sure Clarissa has already found her! What would you care to bet that my sweet little Abby is on her shoulder too?

Hang in there sweetie. 2011 just has to be better for you and all of us than 2010 was. It just has to be! I INSIST that it be!

And what Amy wants, Amy GETS!

We're just going to amble across the road to join Tom & Kelly at their annual bonfire, though I doubt I'll we'll stay till midnight. With or without me, the new year will come. At least we don't have to drive anywhere!

I hope everyone enjoys a safe and happy New Year's.

2011 will be a great year- I feel it! And yes, Grandma loved the chickens! Hopefully it will be a better year for them too- less cocci more happiness!

Well the clock is ticking... I'll be on here till midnight

I went to bed before 10:00 p.m., then got my bedroom lit up by the nextdoor neighbor's fireworks. They didn't do much because it was super windy and now it's pouring rain.

LH, time for me to pay the piper now--my teeth I mentioned to you awhile back are screaming. May be two of them, but one is the anchor tooth for a bridge so there would be a three-tooth size hole if I have the chipped one next to that bridge, plus the anchor for the bridge removed. And one on the bottom, same side, is super sensitive-could be transferred pain or else I'm going to have to give some dentist my first born son (which may be only a down payment).

Dental should be part of regular health insurance! There is no reason for it not to be since your teeth can affect your health and vice versa! That's my suggestion to the powers that be--make dental part of our regular health insurance--who's with me on that????

Amen. We don't have any health insurance and dental is one of those things that just cost too much but you still have to have it done. Nothing hurts worse than a toothache. I had several pulled because it was cheaper to pull them than to fix them.
My wife had her top teeth fixed and we had to get it financed with a loan. Two years of payments just to get dental care. It's beyond me...

We live on a very limited military retirement. This may set us back for years. My porch roof is leaking and growing mushrooms, DH's exhaust pipe rusted and fell off, I need a new stove, etc, etc. If it was part of my health insurance, I'd gladly pay an extra amount to cover dental checkups and repairs! Guess I'd better get busy on some quilts and chicks to sell.

Oh ! put me down for the Dental too. I had one pulled and another root canal and crowned. It and the next one are hurting too. My chewing teeth are down to two. Pain med does not work on me. So when I get something done it kills me for weeks. Also the expense when you stop working or can't work is terrible. Dental should definitely be part of the medicare. Sometimes I think I would be ahead to get them all pulled and get false teeth. Ugh! Getting old is not for sissys for sure.

Cynthia! Why aren't you and Tom on the Tri-Care Delta Dental plan? Denny and I have been on it for nearly 10 years now. If memory serves me, it's about $79 a month. If you like, I'll dig up the information on it for you and send it in a PM. For heaven's sake dear lady! There's no reason why you should be suffering! Not when there is a plan available to us military retirees or dependents thereof!

I really need to get into the dentist myself. I have three teeth that are being a royal pain in the you-know-what, as well as my mouth. But the medications that they have me on for my back may interfere or preclude me all together from having sedation for any procedures. And if that's the case, I'm just going to have to live with it until I can't live with it any longer. I'm a HUGE coward when it comes to dental work. I'd much rather face a rabid Grizzly bear unarmed than one minute in the dentists chair without serious sedation!

Correct...and not worth one red cent of that $79 if you actually need dental work. It is good for x-rays and cleanings yearly because your maximum yearly benefit is $1200.00 (and you pay $948 in premiums for that 1200.00 benefit)...does not do crap for you if need 5500.00 in dental work. Let's not forget the deductible either. Why waste your money?

Benefits
This chart provides an overview of coverage under the Enhanced TRICARE Retiree Dental Program.

Benefits available during the first 12 months of enrollment: *Delta Dental Pays:
Diagnostic services(such as exams) 100%
Preventive services(such as cleanings)
100%
Basic Restorative services(such as fillings, including tooth-colored fillings on back teeth) 80%
Endodontics(such as root canals) 60%
Periodontics(such as gum treatment) 60%
Oral Surgery(such as extractions) 60%
Emergency (such as treatment for minor pain) 80%
Dental Accident Coverage 100%

Additional services available after 12 months of continuous enrollment or if enrolled within four months after retirement:
Cast Crowns, Onlays & Bridges 50%
Partial/Full Dentures 50%
Dental Implant Services 50%
Orthodontics 50%
Deductibles & Maximums
Annual Deductible $50 (per person, $150 cap per family, per benefit year)
Annual Maximum (per person, per benefit year) $1200
Orthodontic Maximum (per person, per lifetime) $1500
Dental Accident Maximum (per person, per benefit year) $1000
Benefit Year: October 1- September 30

*The percentage paid by Delta is based on the allowed amount for each procedure. While the coverage percentage is the same for all TRDP patients, total out-of-pocket costs may be higher if care is received from a non-network or overseas dentist.

Covered benefits are subject to certain limitations

So where is it worth it to me to pay 948.00 in premiums, wait 12 months and have a 1000.00 worth of work done, they pay 50% of it after my deductible?

Cynthia our *cough spew coffee gag* President was supposed to make dental part of medical....yeah I see it happened.

Hope all of your teeth problems get fixed! And happy new year! Today will be real exciting- with Mahonri's hatch and all. A local restaurant made us a lot of goodies left at gma's house. Anyone want to know a family tradition??

Well on the first day of every month, the first thing we say is "rabbit rabbit". It brings us good luck for the month and for the whole year if you say it in January. I forget to- darn. But still something fun!

Thank you Cetawin, for digging all of that up. Yeah, the first year kind of sucks on that plan, but we're at the point now where it would cover a heck of a lot more than it did in the beginning. But then, that's only if I were to actually USE the dang thing. Like I said, these blankety-blank-blank medications they have me on, may preclude me from having sedation.[as in..."La La La La La La La!
wee.gif
I couldn't give a rat's patooty about anything" kind of sedation] And if that's the case, you won't see me within a country mile of a dentist's chair.

We keep looking at how much we pay annually and keep thinking that we're wasting our money. But, Denny is at the point now, where most of his lower partial would be covered.....if he would just go in and get it done!

But you're right Cetawin. They could, and certainly should, do better by the Veterans and career service folks. Even if it didn't cover their dependants, they at least should receive nothing but the very best care, be it medical or dental, from the country for whom they put their lives in harms way to protect!

Ooohhhkaaay....That darned old soap box is creeping out from under the desk. I'd better scoot before I become too tempted to jump up on it!

Y'all have a great first day of 2011!
