Sdwd

I told Beth this, but we just went to town to get 5 bales of shavings a bale of straw, two bags of layer feed and a bag of Knockout scratch. Spent about $75 on the chickens and $5 on us, LOL. Cleaned out every coop because of the ammonia with them being stuck inside for weeks. This winter is awful. Made me look at properties in southwest GA, LOL. It's not that pretty down there, not like where we are in the Blue Ridge mtns. I'm exhausted. Bought a pizza, first one we've had in about a year, I think. I'm coughing from dust in the coop and gotta get something to drink.

I. do. not. want. Silkies. You can't make me.

Sheps4her. Remote works great...I flipped him.off his feet at a dead run once because he ignored me and the.low level zaps of 50.... so I hit him with 100 and flipped him. He came running for home. He learned....quick!

I tried a remote controlled zapper on my shepherd mix Frankie once.......On the highest level he was twitching as he continued to run and bark....ever seen a dog running while trying to use his rear leg to kick at his neck? Very interesting dance move.

Hi Kathy,

I am relatively new to this thread, but have a suggestion...
Have you thought of trying the invisible fence?? Not even the one that you have to wire. There is one that uses a plug in base and you can set it for a perimeter. Can't remember how big it goes, but it works well for a friend of mine. Hate to see a good dog lose a good home for wandering too far..especially one that is good with the chickens..

They work if the dog does not figure them out. Once they figure them out then all bets are off.
The problem with those and Tyson may be that he will test it a few times and get zapped....then he will run on through it...once he is out of range and not getting zapped any longer, he is on his way to wherever. And Tyson is accustomed to running where he wants to. My goofball would do just that same thing...so I have a collar on him that I have the remote for.

I think this is what we are gonna try (invisible fencing). Currently, Tyson has a new home .... in one of the breeder pens.

Mike let him out this morning, and he immediately ran down the road. Caught up with him and he is back in the pen ..... for a good long while!

Hey, I had 2 silkies for a while. My white and buff girls. Both were hatchery so didn't have enough of a crest to have trouble seeing. They were out and about running with the big flock, no problems at all. White girl was a good broody too. They were sold to the family with the kids recently, so I don't have any more (nor do I want any).

Anything with a big crest (polish or good silkies) will be very quickly removed from the gene pool here.

Did I mention that my hawk problem has become a PAIR of hawk problems? They both flew over my yard together when I was outside this weekend. Stupid hawks.

I'm such a FRAUD. All up in the SDWD's business and I don't even have any delawares. I have a half delaware. That's it! Such a fraud.

Make an honest woman out of me Kathy! LOLOL
