Yard full o' rocks :

Ok, everyone please bare with me while I rant....

We have picked up COBRA insurance while I have been unemployed. We pay the premiums each month via on-line payment. Jennifer received a call from the dermatologist yesterday stating "our insurance had been canceled". So, I contact the insurance company today (weren't open yesterday....of course) and was told that I must submit a "letter requesting a review". Bottom line is that when I paid the premium in Dec, it didn't go thru. Never thought twice about it as its never been a problem before.

So, I submit "letter" (via email), explain situation, honestly expecting a note back that says "get your payment in and all will be fine". BUT NO.....Get an email letter back stating that "Federal guidelines governing COBRA are quite stringent and thus your request is denied".......UUUGGGHHHH

So, we have been without medical coverage SINCE Nov 30 (unbeknown to us!!), and had several Dr apptmts and RXs filled in December....what a mess!

I am going to try to reach a supervisor or mgr, but I truly doubt that I will get anywhere with them either

What a day....

Thanks for listening, now back to our regularly scheduled programming

Scott - that STINKS! I had a similar thing years ago and fought it tooth and nail but they did not budge - i hope and pray you can get something figured out.!!!!

Scott I am sorry for your delema but please don't let it drop, if you don't get anywhere with the supervisor, call your congress person or senator. They may be able to help. Don't you usually get a conformation when you submit you payment? I pay my CC online and write down the conformation # on the statement. Same with Sallie Mae and bank transfers.

Kathy what is a "ringlet Barred rock?

Also what would you do? I have two broody hens in the coop, one has hatched out a chick and is fine. The other however apparently has been getting extra eggs so I X'd her broody eggs and every day collect the unX'd eggs. I just have no place to put her, though I may try to keep her in a bin tonight. A bin I had hoped to move some chicks to but that will be another story.

Anyhow the broody had apparently either a broken egg or whoever laid an extra egg got yolk on her eggs. I took a damp paper towel and wiped the eggs off and put them back under her. Should I A. scrap the whole thing and move her with some new eggs. or B. just leave her and hope for the best. or C. move her and her eggs to a bin and hope for the best that way?

Now understand I don't need the chicks but she was insistent. So i figure what the heck I can always give the chicks away.

On another note the broody below her has one chick and they've been out and about but she still has four eggs. Should I remove the four and leave her with the one chick. Plus it is going to get very cold this week. In the single digits.

Of course of all the things going on around here these days this is nothing, but I won't go into that.

If I were you I'd do C, and add some extra egs under her for a better hatch.

Kathy, that is awesome! Great pics, hoping it will be male! Scott, very sorry about the insurance- that sucks. I hope that gets better SOON! Also, wanted to point out that you've been on he thread a lot more lately, it's so fun having you here! It's great.

And Nella, I can picture that POOR petsitter lugging up the slippery hill, slipping, bleeding, soaking wet, coughing, with five bales of shavings rolling down the hill as she's running after them...

Well, little zuzu hasn't laid again yet, but everyone else is, which is good. And Amelia laid another HUGE egg today- and it wasn't a double yolk.

Guess that's a good thing, though.

I think I'll be putting up an auction for a large dog crate that could be used as a brooder or for show, if anyone is interested. It's brand new and mint condition. Well, off to another rehearsal, see you all tonight!

Well folks....just got a text from a friend who got me an interview with his company. I'm not supposed to know it yet, but I am getting called back for a "Final interview" with the President/CEO of the company the first week in Feb

I know God answers prayers....I'm praying that IF this is the right opportunity, that God will open that door for me

I have "pips galore" in my CR hatch...most are in the Ohio bunch, but no one has made a grand arrival just yet.

Well you know how I feel about your job situation and pray for the biggest and best job for you and yours. In the name of Jesus amen.

Now I do hope the CR 's turn out well cuz after next month I'd like some eggs. Going to see my Son and his and the grand children. It will only be the second time I've seen my grand son. Sent him a john deer rocking horse for his B-day. They're in Alabama. Oh and gotta share cuz this is cool. May get to go to Honduras with a group in the future. Doc bailey just came back but says he may put together a group. Says i can go. $1200. Hope it works out.

Scott and all take care things to do.

We got about 7 inches of new snow last night and this morning. Good thing DH has a 4 wheel drive truck with a plow on it since he had to take me to the ER last night. I guess the liquid diet got to me because I ended up with a migraine and throwing up. My blood pressure was 150/91 which is high for me. Mine is usually on the low side. Had to go back this morning for the ultrasound and they found a spot on my liver but nothing conclusive about the gallbladder. So I go back for two more tests. One Thursday and the other Monday.

Meanwhile I can eat a bland diet.

for your new job, Scott! You deserve it.

Hillbilly Hen, I had my gallbladder removed years ago. Had stones. Was laproscopic surgery, three tiny scars, fast recovery. I think it's usually a very easy surgery from which to recover.

Oh, btw, I'm fairly sure the Delaware chick with Nugget is a pullet. No smut between the wing tops or on the neck nor pink on the comb at four weeks old. Her name is Tasha, from Star Trek, if you remember Tasha Yar. She is a hoot, just like all Dellie kids.

my sister had hers done a few years ago too. She stayed with me while she "recovered".

However last summer my FIL almost died because they could not schedule him on the day they do that type of surgery.

His ruptured while he was waiting. And , yes, I am going to the same hospital

Forgot to mention, I have a high pain tolerance, don't tolerate meds well at all but don't think the surgery will be that bad. I have had worse types of surgery and came out ok.

Thanks Tim

ALL prayers are appreciated. As for CR eggs, you just say when. Sorry i couldn't get you the BR eggs we talked about, but I think you will like these birds too. VERY rare and I think, very pretty.

Where is your family in Alabama??

Is the Honduras trip a mission trip? Our church has 3 planned this year:

Andros Island (small island in the Bahamas devastated by Hurricane Andrew yrs ago and pretty much forgotten), you might be able to see a bit about it on our website www.discoverthewell.org
Liberia (a gentleman in our church has a foundation that has built an orphanage and a school there)
West Virginia (a local mission so that our under 18 aged kids can get involved)

Anyway, thank you ALL for the prayers and support. I know God has something in mind for me, I just need to trust His timing

Everyone have a great night!!
