Suede's ladies are named Smoky, Dusty and Meg. Meg has some RIR in her I believe but Dusty and Smoky are both Orp ladies.

Janelle, yes but watch the weather up my way and North. We are not going to be as clear.

Oh LH I can wait my turn. I don't need any more Roos at this house. I'm pretty sure that the majority of the last two hatches is overrun with them. I would just love to have one of Suedes girls. Also if Kathy's oreo chicks turn out to be girls I would love love love to have one.

I can share a Suede girl with you Brandon...I have 3 of his daughters now so I shall not be greedy. But the boy and a spare are mine. LOL

I have a big blue Orp cockerel that I kept from Dick Horstman chicks. OMG, this boy is huge and so beautiful. I really do not need him, as I have others. Maybe I will bring him to the party in May!

Nick, they get their layer crumble mixed with rolled oats, red winter wheat berries, flax seed, BOSS, cracked corn and wheat or oat bran...they also love dried split peas in there. But I am having to change their mix because of suppliers locally....but they will get oat groats, wheat, barley, flax seed, BOSS and cracked corn in the mix now. I also add Fast Track, a probiotic to their food.

Kathy pics of this blue boy? If I do not get a Suede boy, I shall consider giving him a home if he is sweet and handsome.

Kathy, those are some of the best baby pictures I've ever seen!! I just love the Icelandic's when they were just a couple of days old!

And they sure are growing into some very handsome birds. Especially that black and white pair. Do you know if you have male and female with that pair yet? Awesome colors in all of them!!

Keep them coming girl!

Well, GeeGee is on about day 5 or so....depends on how ya want to count it. She started back on the 13th, which was a Thursday. Then one morning, I think it was Monday, maybe Tuesday, she had left the nest for her morning feed and water, and then returned....to the wrong nest!

I figured the eggs were no longer good on account of the fact that they had gone stone cold. So, I took those eggs and let her just sit on the eggs she was then sitting on. She later went back to the original nest box that same day, but I had already picked up the eggs. Of course, those crazy girls of mine had already put five new eggs in the original box!

So, along about Thursday [pretty sure it was Thursday] she was still holding tight to the same eggs as the day before. That was when I decided to be sure to remove any and all other eggs from the other nest boxes throughout the day from then on. In the hope that she wouldn't become confused again.

So far, so good. She has stayed on these eggs, only getting up to eat, drink and poop.

The funniest thing to watch is a broody fussing while she eats, fussing while she drinks, fussing while she poops, fussing while she comes back into the coop, fussing while she chases everyone else out of the coop, fussing while she settles herself back on her eggs, fuss, fuss, FUSS!!...and then absolute silence.

I couldn't help it! I laughed my butt off at her! I think I might have to give her FussyButt's name, just for the duration. She sure has being "Fussy" down to a fine art. Poor Chief even got chased out of his own home!

All her fussing doesn't seem to stop the rest of the girls from trying to stuff their egg into her box though.

When I checked her Friday night, she had a total of TEN! Five more than I had marked as being hers.

Which brings me to a question. What, besides a pencil, is suitable for marking her eggs? The pencil marks keep getting smeared off and hard to see under the heat lamp at night. I want to be able to plainly and clearly see those marks in any light. The longer I have to lift her up to check the eggs, the more my poor hands get pecked to pieces!
barnie.gif
And nobody can peck like a broody on her eggs! So, any suggestions? I know Sharpie's are a big No-No, right? So what else is there? Please! I really do need to know!
