You got it, friend! I think I have 4 of them. Surely one or more will be a girl, right?

There is just something about them that has caught my eye!! I definitely want one if you get a girl!!

Oh LH I can wait my turn. I don't need any more Roos at this house. I'm pretty sure that the majority of the last two hatches is overrun with them. I would just love to have one of Suedes girls. Also if Kathy's oreo chicks turn out to be girls I would love love love to have one.

I can share a Suede girl with you Brandon...I have 3 of his daughters now so I shall not be greedy. But the boy and a spare are mine. LOL

Yay!!!

I do, too! I figure those nutritionists have it figured out pretty well, so I rely on that. I do add spices and oil, but not every day. Sometimes I put vitamins in the water, but not routinely. I also believe for beginners, this is the way to go. They have alot to learn, and this just makes it easy for them. I think Nick has just 4 chickens. It really wouldn't be worth it to buy a bunch of stuff to try to make his own, I don't think. It would get old and lose vitamins.

Yep, only four. But the thing is, I have been having laying problems with my EE, so I want to increase her protein intake. I'm not quite a beginner, I've had them for three years. But I took a break for a year, since the economy dropped and chickens were not on our highest priority list- aka, I wasn't a BYC member. LOL.

ETA: I already have everything on LH's list accept red winter wheat berries (which I don't think I'll use), so buying shouldn't be a problem.

There are ways to increase protein very simply.....add scrambled eggs or a meat source. I think even calf manna or something like that is higher protein. I would just feed the layer pellets/crumbles as your "feed" and then give them some food on the side to increase protein. Doesn't have to be any fancy list of ingredients. Scrambled eggs would do it just fine........or cat food.....

Yep, thought of that. But if my chickens eat a treat, they stop eating their feed. Everytime I put out new oyster shell or birdseed, they eat it all and don't touch their feed for a day or two, so that's my only concern.

I plan to do a big McMurray order in March and renovate a home depot shed for $900. So then the feed will go a lot quicker. The current rabbit hutch style coop that I have I am planning to use for bantams.

But seriously, what can I mark her eggs with that won't wipe off so easily, and won't harm the development of the chicks?

Here is a picture I found over in the incubation section (Dipsey Doodle Doo's picture). See, others do use markers.
