I must have the least picky chickens ever. Mine eat what I give them and then look for more. Oh wait, survival of the fittest at Nellabean's house

Amen to that Beth! I wish mind did too. But they flat refuse to eat it. They literally go on a hunger strike or go free ranging before they'll even look at conventional pellets.

Are my chickens spoiled? Oh yeah! Rotten and to the core!

GeeGee's eggs are properly marked now, so I can tell at a glance what should be there and what shouldn't.

Even under the red light of the heat lamp at night. Cosette has laid her second egg, and as expected, it's a bit bigger than her first. It's also leaning more towards the blue side than her first!

I'll try to get pictures up later this evening of those, along with three of Maggie's so y'all can see the variation in her eggs too. And here I always thought that once they established the color of their egg, it didn't change. Well, that's Maggie for ya. Always making a liar out of anyone she can!

Y'all could never post too many pictures.

Looks like it might get uo to 30 Friday but it is also supposed to snow. I wonder if I could get the coop cleaned out. I need to put my welsummers in the breeder pen soon.
I had my last test today, a HIDIA scan where they inject radioactive dye into me and scan my liver and gallbladder. Now I just wait and see...

I used to feed calf manna to our rabbits when we had them. It smells really good. How much do you give the chickens?

Kathy- I agree, there are NEVER too many pictures of chickies. So post some more!!!

The Del girls decided to start delivering eggs- Lizzie and Georgine, who are both in the brooder recovering from the World's Worst Molt, both laid, and instead of the usual two in the breeders pen, I got three. Plus Emma, who is till in with her family, laid today. Whew. I was getting worried I would never see any numbers again!

I got 4 eggs yesterday. My girls are protesting the bad weather. Hopefully with the GLORIOUS weather we had today, I'll get more than 4. Every day its a different 4. I got 2 olive eggs, a marans dark egg and a tan one day, 4 tans the next, 1 brown, 3 tans and a white the next, etc. Crazy chickens. Slackers.

Kathy, I have a question. You first got chicks in '09, right?? HOW do you have such beautiful birds? They're gorgeous, you ship eggs, you hatch like a pro, you have amazingly designed coops, you are SO knowledgeable, now, tell me Kathy, HOW?? Tell me your secret!

You impress me so much.

LH, I had to laugh at this because that is how my Mom taught me to cook

Did the math today and figured out that my chickens go through about 5 pounds of feed a day. Not including treats. Not too bad.
