Sdwd

See what I mean about Delawares? They are super friendly. That one that I said wasn't acting the same, couldn't put my finger on it exactly, but it would hang back and sit around more than the rest. Still, it seemed to be doing everything just fine--it eats and drinks like the others. I did notice that it had two rows of tiny wing feathers coming in already, so could be a girl. In any case, you'll see the boys looking like boys in about three weeks. Every one of them hatched clean and easy and they had AviaCharge 2000 vitamin/mineral supplement as well as some mashed up egg as a protein boost. Enjoy your new addiction!

Ooh, great! Thanks! Mom fell in loove with "the runt", lol. She's addicted, too! She seems to be eating and drinking just fine, as well as pecking around, just not as much as the others. I might add some vitamins to the water in a few days if she doesn't spark up a bit.

ETA: You mentioned wing feathers. Can dels be feather sexed?

She may just be a bit slower to become a nuisance than the other four, but I think she's fine or I wouldn't have sent her home with you. She just marches to the beat of a different drummer! No, I don't believe mine can be wing sexed, not the type they're calling wing sexed where you look at the length and evenness of the rows, but the girls in the Orps always seem to get two rows of wing feathers before the boys and I noticed she has two sets of feathers there, even though her comb is larger than the others.

G'nite, folks. I have to crash now.

Let's hope you don't have to resort to that!

Kathy, does the power go out often due to weather where you are at? Boy! I don't think I could stand the anxiety! I think I'd have to have me a whole house backup generator on standby all of the time if I was hatching like you do.

Everyone, send good power vibes and prayers Kathy's way! She's got some very important eggs in that incubator of hers! We don't want anything bad to happen to them!!! A prayer for Mike, who is out on the road too, please! As for anyone else within our little SDWD family here that might be in the path of this monster, please, just hunker down, stay put and stay warm. There is nothing beyond your driveway that is worth risking your lives for!

Good Grief! I'm gonna gnaw off all of my fingernails tonight, I can just see it coming!

I can't believe I am able to get online. I am quite sure this won't last. The wind is horrific already and snow is coming down and accumulating quickly. Newscast says power outages are expected with days (not hours) of no power likely. OMG, I am hatching as I type. I fear I will suffer the loss of many. I just don't know what to do..... I wish Mike was here. Here is much better with this stuff than I am. I am happy he made it Iowa last night, so he is safe.
