Bring on the pictures!

Today was a busy day here......lots of moving stuff and rearranging. Still not done so my house is a disaster currently. Rearranged the living room, dog room, laundry room and extra bedroom. Stuff got moved down to the garage and from room to room and boxed up. It wasn't just minor rearranging....major furniture moved from room to room, including big storage shelving units, couches chairs, etc. The bunnies are now living in the laundry room, so my extra bedroom was converted into a sitting room for now. Nice leather chair and side tables with a reading lamp in the corner, tv and mini entertainment center in another corner....eventually I will replace it with a bed...eventually.

And let me just announce. For the first time in YEARS......I have zero chickens in my garage. I have 6 empty brooders (!!!!), an empty pen with hutch and my tractor is empty. Holy frijole.

Also, I have another broody. One of my mottled cochin girls is broody. I'll give her a week and then candle eggs...I havent done any tush trimming in that pen and the birds are so heavily feathered I don't expect fertilify to be there. If no eggs candle with veins next weekend, I will give her a few of my big girl's eggs.

Welcome back Nella. I am glad you made it home safe and had a good time.

LH, you had me laughing over your "rules"

also laughing about the Diva

Kathy, be careful if you have to go out in that mess. Hopefully it won't get too awful there.

Looks like the snow is not going to miss us after all. It was a very cold 7 degrees this morning when we left to go to the hospital for my test. For my test I had to eat a radioactive scrambled egg!

Then they had to scan me for an hour and a half. I fell asleep.

Hopefully I will find out the results tomorrow.

Nick, waiting for the pics

Nick, isn't Suede something else? You will absolutely love your Dels-watch out for mind control - sounds like one of the little buggers has nailed you already!

Nella, come one, you KNOW the garage and any other empty space will only be empty momentarily. Especially if you have broodies starting up- anybody taking any bets on Nellabean????

Kathy, I looked at the weather report - I really hope you don't get the brunt of it -

Beth, I absolutely love your pictures! Those boys are just gorgeous! Of course Emma is looking as sweet as ever, too! Awwww, I can hardly wait for these chicks to grow out!

Nella, Congratulations on the broody!

Gee, thanks guys

I do not approve of broody behavior!! I moved the last batch of 18 chicks outside last night......which is why all of my brooders are empty now. In another few weeks or a month or so, I will get rid of all the "extra" roosters in these young batches, which will get rid of 12 boys. And bring me back down "permanently" to my 50 birds number that I have been trying to reach.

Kathy!

Got you and Mike firmly in my prayers girl!

Hope your power stays on. Do you have any non-electric way of keeping the garage warm? You know, Coleman lanterns put out an incredible amount of heat. Just be sure to hang it in a secure location that they can't get to.

Please! Do keep us posted. If I don't see regular updates from you girl, you know I'm gonna worry!

Nick! Where are those pictures???

Nella,

If it's any consolation, I know how you feel! I've got a broody too right now, and I really am of two minds about it. Part of me is excited at the prospects of having a good mommy in the flock besides Maggie's proven track record, and the other part of me is pulling my hair out at GeeGee's timing! It only got up to 18F today!

This is NOT the time to be hatching chicks out via natural means! *sigh* C'est la vie!

Beth, I so wish I could take Ivan and Boo both off of your hands. What handsome boys. And you know how much I love the mutts!
love.gif
Dang that Ivan is BIIIIIIGGG!!!
gig.gif
Poor little Harriette. I bet encounters with Ivan leave her feeling a little flat, huh?

No, I have nothing if the power goes out. OMG, I will lose all the babies if that happens. I have a hatch due tomorrow, too. I PRAY WE DO NOT LOSE POWER! I just talked to Mike. He has made it to Lincoln, NE and is headed home (our house in Iowa). He is inching along, and has another 100 miles to go. If he makes it there, he will stay put. I told him not to even try coming here. Not worth the risk. Of course, he is worried sick about us not being able to take care of everything. Sheeesh, this has me worried.

Aahhhh, I thought of a heat source. If all else fails .... the car has heat!

Attention! I already have a roo, CROWING in the brooder.
roll.png
Oh joy! It stands on it's tippy-toes, stretches it's neck and attempts to make this crowy-noise.

Oh well, easier to sex now! I took this video of the brooder a few minutes ago. During the end I take "Jess" out onto my lap. Jess was my pocket-pooper on the way home the whole time. "She" refused to not be held!
love.gif
I'm really hoping that this one's a girl. Cyn, who again is their mama? Jess has a blue twist tie around her leg.

Wait... ugh... Flickr is being slowwwww.... will post the video in a few minutes when it's done. And of course, update my avatar!

Nick, Georgie is the mother of most of those, maybe all. Ellie wasn't laying as much when I collected those eggs. Crowing in the brooder? I know it happens and it's adorable. Let's hope there are two or three pullets, at least. I promise not one of those crowed while in my brooder.

oh, Georgie is my hen who lays very dark eggs, so maybe her daughters will, too.
