Ya know, I like your rooster coop hutch. I have decided what I really need is a bunch of small 4x4 coops for matings. Yup, that is what I need. Even 4 x 8 where I could divide them in half (or not) would work. Oh wait, better yet .... a long one (16 ft) made into 4! Oh yes, that would be good!

Well, isn't that the plan for the May meetup? 4x4 or 4x8 divided in two? Yes it is.

Someday I will finish my 4x4 coop. Probably not any time soon though, ha ha.

The plan with my 4x8 rooster coop hutch is that I could divide it in half if need be. That is why there is a door on "each side". But it works really well as is, so I probably never will. It is the perfect size for my Bantam Mottled Cochin flock which is only a whopping 1 rooster and 5 hens. It is big enough to keep them locked up in bad weather. They take up a whopping 2 feet of the 7 feet of roost space

I am so ready for spring. Too cold to even think about any building of anything yet, or in my case.... asking DH to build something.

I am thinking about getting an incubator. I don't want to hatch a whole lot of eggs....any suggestions?

I know it will bring me problems for sure.

I love my chickens and thinning them down is so hard already. Those cute little fuzzy butts will be hard to sell or give away for sure. Gloria Jean

I have people that want delawares and welsummers. Right now it depends on having a hen or two go broody. Plus we have a monthly small animal swap meet here in Newaygo starting in April thru October.

But, Nella ..... I need them NOW ! I can't wait! Really, I have so many matings I want to do..... I need to get them penned now. I am actually considering dividing up the breeder pens I have now. They are all about 5 x 8 each, some larger. I may make them all double deckers, and cut their outside pen space in half. I made them all plenty large.
