Morning SDWDers!
I spent some time playing with the chickens today. They crack me up....the young batch of 8 (plus 2 older friends) run around in a little group. They are a little pod of chickens, running around the yard.
Can you tell which one is the Jersey Giant mix? LOL
My little evil completely strangely colored bantam cochin rooster.
The loudest hen that ever existed, my Splash Andalusian girl who walks around the yard screaming at the top of her lungs every morning.
I have that BIG blue brahma/cochin rooster....he is a bit annoying as he is a little rough on the girls. But I'm liking him more and more everyday....maybe he is finally calming down? Regardless, he is very watchful over the girls when they are out and about.
He means business.
and he's darn pretty too!
We were all down at the bottom of the yard and a hen near the top of the yard somewhere started squawking and carrying on.
The blue brahma/cochin guy and my blue wheaten ameraucana rooster went RUNNING up the hill to go see what was wrong.
Good boys.
That left my blue cochin boy down at the bottom of the hill watching over those girls.
Some of the other girls were busy paying their way. Middle top, BCM/Ameraucana olive egger, Upper right, my bumblefoot White Leghorn girl, Bottom Left, Blue Wheaten Ameraucana girl, Bottom Middle Stew #2 my favorite RIR girl.
I also candled all dozen bantam eggs that my broody mottled cochin girl is sitting on. Every single one was clear. Not unexpected, as they are a good quality little flock and I've done no tush trimming yet. So I replaced them with 5 wheaten marans eggs, 4 blue wheaten ameraucana eggs and 1 very pretty speckled light brown egg which I think is from one of my barred cochins.
