Ha ha ha, at first I thought you were making a comment on my maggot situation

Speaking of which, didn't mention it on here. Found one of my broody hens with a super poopy butt today. Pulled her out to trim the feathers and found a big poopy mat....covering a big wound full of maggots.

So I had to bust out the gloves, syringe and tweezers....flushed the wound with saline solution and picked all the remaining maggots out with tweezers. Gross. I rechecked tonight and the wound dried up pretty well......but found 3 more maggots in the top part. Pulled them out and stuck her back in her brooder.

Maggots are gross. I'll be rechecking twice a day tomorrow and daily this week, to remove any new maggots and start medicating the wound. At least she is in a garage brooder all by herself.

I bought those same ones too when I bought the heat packs. I have yet to figure out how to put them on though

I am glad your dog is eating the food. Hopefully she will perk up a bit.

Looks like Kathy is having way too much fun with the license plates

It must be "old dog" week.

The Precious is still got an upset stomach, she is limping severely on her right front. I thought she had restrained her shoulder, but her foot is slightly swollen and warm. I can't find a puncture or any cut or object. She lets me manipulate it with out complaining. I am at a loss.

Tonight she barely ate her rice and corn. Been feeding her bland so her diarrhea quits. Seems to be working until we tried to put her back on regular food 3 days ago. I don't know what to do with her. None of her issues are emergency vet worthy. And, she is almost 11.

She's laying on the bed being old and tired.

Oh yeah, meant to reply on the dog thing.

Norman my super special little BABY of a cat has been having problems the last few months. Turns out it was an overdose of phenobarbital resulting in toxicity.....he felt so badly he wasn't really eating. And the longer he didn't eat (much) the worse he got. Even after we addressed the phenobarb issue, I still struggled to get him to eat.

The thing is, sometimes just jump starting their appetite temporarily will result in them improving and going back to old eating habits. I was giving him rotisserie chicken, string cheese, tuna....anything he would eat....he would generally take a bit or two and then lose interest and leave. So I was doing this as many times a day as possible.

Then I moved to the canned foods. I went to petsmart and pretty much bought nearly every can of the flavors he likes (chicken or turkey), in all brands and types. And I went through them one by one. if I opened a can and he sniffed it and walked away, I would open a different can (and my other fat cats would demolish the first). I was able to find a few cans of food that he really liked....and I was feeding him 3 times a day. And still giving him lots of cat treats (he loves those) and some string cheese or whatever I was eating if he was interested. By the time I got through ALLLL of those cans of food, I had a few that he really seemed to like. and I went back and bought more of just those.

He had lost 3 lbs in about 3 months....and then lost over a half pound in the 3 weeks prior to us figuring out what was wrong. Best I can tell, he hasn't really gained much weight back but he has leveled out and has not lost any more. He should keep improving over time.

Just feed that dog whatever you can to get it to eat....you wont have to do it forever. Just get her jumpstarted....you may also want to buy some of the high energy nutrical type supplements. They come in a thing that looks like a toothpaste tube. Its a paste. High calories supplement. Give them a few doses a day, so even if she is not eating much, she'll still get nutrients.
