And let's face it: Beating the living begeezus out of it with a shovel is a much better release of the huge dump of adrenaline that Kathy probably suffered to her system at the mere sight of the ROUS! [Rodents Of Unusual Size]

A shovel! Yes, I even had a couple shovels nearby, too.

However, that would mean I would have to get close to it. Ummm, NO, that ain't happenin'. No way am I getting THAT close to one of those varmits!

A dog. That's what I need. A GREAT dog! Gotta start searching for one.

How about a pitch fork? The heck with a shovel. I took the spade to the one that got in my coop. I just freaked so much adreneline I didn't think of what could have happened. I lost my salvation (swore a blue streak) that day I'll tell ya.

Gotta get yourself a couple of pitch forks and keep one hangin on the front of each coop.

Either that or carry a pistol in your house dress pocket. Worked for my grandmother. Grampa said that's the only reason they only had two kids. We kids knew about it and didn't mess with Grandma. She said move and we moved. Fast!

Come to think of it she never did lose a chicken to vermin either. She was a good shot too. Only missed once which is where they got tripod the three legged dog. He stayed away from Grandma too. I felt alot safer when she died. I hated that woman.

Woman really....do I need to dig out my old diving speargun....have you LOOKED at your shovel? Do you see how tall it is? You were probably closer to the thing in the midst of your hysterics

It is a giant rat not a mountain lion (those make you do everything except scream because you can't...breathing is hard enough)....think of your babies....think of the money and time invested and then get madder than hell and attack the thing with whatever you have nearby.

Think of the rodent as a psy patient tripping on PCP and you are holding the thorsene (sp?)....go jab em with it!

You should see this one! This mornings catch. It is, of course, IN the trap! This coon looks huge to me. I am waiting for someone to come dispose of it. #22

BIG announcement... Rex CROWED! First time and he turns 20 weeks old tomorrow. It was a very deep one syllable blast, but complete with wing flapping. All his girls ran over to see what was wrong with him, LOL. Coincidentally, I had just removed Ranger and put him in the pen with the main flock and Isaac. Ike isn't chasing him. Even when Emily chased Ranger and made him yell, Ike turned to see what the fuss was about, but didn't make a move to do a thing. I hope it continues this way! Ranger noticed Gracie and Hope, the two Buffs I recently took from Rex and gave to Ike, so he knows someone over there. Until someone decides they want him, he can probably just live with Isaac's group and help look out for those girls while on range.
