Well Cyn, Georgia girls is def laying, found another small but firm egg in the corner of the coop. Now I just have to get her to lay them in the nest boxes.
She's not with my other Dels.

I can't find my camera to post pics. Things here are in an upheaval and it must have got misplaced. DD is due any day I guess. Darcy should be here soon.

I don't know why but all the birds hung out near the coop and run today. Thats' strange for them. I didn't see anything unusual, unless it was me mowing the grass. They don't usually get spooked by the mower. Heck I've run the cordless saw in the coop and had to shoo them away.

I haven't been letting Nick and the girls out of the run during the day so I can keep track of how many eggs they are laying. Only got 2/5 today. Considering I dont' know how old the 4 CNY girls are I won't be upset. The other two are hatchery girls. Looks like the chick with the hen (CNY girl) is a roo. Darn. I do have a CM with two Del chicks but have no sign of what sex they are. One seems a little more independent than the other and that gives me cause for concern. I want hens. They both seem to wander farther from mom than I like.

If I had the place to keep young chicks I'd be fireing up the incubator now. They'd be at least two months old before the snow flies.

That's funny, Tim ..... that is exactly what has happened here the last couple days ..... a couple of the new pullets are laying in the corner of the coop. So, today I took out a plastic thingy that pop comes in (at the grocery store), and filled it will nesting material and placed it in that corner. Sure enough, they laid their eggs in it! YAY!!

OK! That's it woman! Front and center! I'm going to hold you up as an example to the DH as to why I am NOT to be considered crazy by him or any of the neighbors! I have a measly, paltry 22 birds total. And he seems to think that this number is waaaaay too big! HAAA!!! Just goes to show what he doesn't know!
lol.png

OK! OK! I'll grant that maybe four roosters is about two or three roosters too many. But I love those boys! I can't let go of them! Who's going to love them the way I do? Who's gonna tuck them in at night, every night and love on them, and caress them, and cuddle them, and tell them what really good boys they are, and how pretty they are, and...................... Why are you all looking at me like that??? I'm not crazy!! I'm not! I'm not! I'M NOT!!!! .....I'm "Eccentric"!!

I like to call it QUIRKY. And I do not lie, talked to an old man at the sale this weekend who had over 300 birds. OEG mostly. I immediately texted my boyfriend with the proof I was not bad at all. LOL. I just updated my excel spreadsheet. 46 birds are on my "I want to keep list". That does not include babies.....so, 14 babies here currently, plus 2 hens on lots of eggs......babies from Scott on the way along with a few others. Sigh. It's a work in progress!

I do want to cheer for myself in that I packed up my 2 incubators today. They are in their boxes and will be moved to the extra bedroom closet tomorrow. I have more broodies than I know what to do with. Who needs stinking incubators?

I can't have eggs on the floor cuz of Nick. Which is how he got his name. When I first got Nick and the girls I had them in a round pool together and they laid their first eggs on the floor. Well Nick ate them and I threatened to chop his head off. Nick is short for Nearly Headless Nick. Cuz he nearly lost his head.

So I have to get them to lay in the nest asap.

I have a few young ones who every night I have to take out of the nest boxes and put on the roost. The EE's have finally gotten the idea. Good garden o' peas! They were a pain. I 've got a Lav/ EE cross that is scared to roost with the big girls and is alway in a nestbox. I have to take a flashlight and check the boxes every night.

Nella...what would you want for the hens? I have 2 hens and 4 drakes now so no more boy Harlequins for me.

Poor Spike, I am not sure what is going on with him...he is doing good all except when he was sitting on my hand this evening, and I moved my hand a bit, he fell off my hand upside down. Thank goodness I caught him with my other hand or he would have hit the floor from 5' up.

Maybe he is still just a bit weak from all of this and has not regained his "perching/roosting" strength. *sigh* Well tomorrow will be day 5 of the medicating...so a few more days will decide on the vet trip.

ummmm speaking of incubators...Kathy are you needing yours back right away? hahahaha I am thinking about firing mine up again.

On a completely separate subject....that has me steaming

I got the second call this week from my bank...so far a total of 4 checks I have deposited into my account were returned NSF
he.gif

Ya know, if you do not have the money to cover your check, just flippin tell me. Ask me to hold it or do not send it but come on...that is $39.00 per check charged to my account dang it, one of them was sent through TWICE.
somad.gif
I think I am going to start a CASH ONLY policy *grumbles and walks over to kick the innocent recliner*

Ok ranting over....

My chickens all looked totally pathetic at bedtime...they were wet and looked like drowned oversized rodents and ALL of them were giving ME the stinkeye. I did not tell them to stand out in the flipping rain...they have plenty of covered shelter the nitwits but I was getting the stinkeye and screams if I tried to pick anyone up. WENCHES all of them!

I had to share this....I stole it from Debi Raymond on Facebook who stole it from someone else but it is the joke of the day.....

The husband had just finished reading a new book entitled, 'YOU CAN BE THE MAN OF YOUR HOUSE'. He stormed to his wife in the kitchen and announced,

'From now on, you need to know that I am the man of this house and my word is Law. You will ......prepare me a gourmet meal tonight, and when I'm finished eating my meal, you will serve me a sumptuous dessert. After dinner, you are going to go upstairs with me and we will have the kind of sex that I want. Afterwards, you are going to draw me a bath so I can relax. You will wash my back and towel me dry and bring me my robe.

Then, you will massage my feet and hands. Then tomorrow morning, guess who's going to dress me and comb my hair?

Wait for it.....

The wife replied:

The funeral director would be my first guess.....

I was getting screams and stink eye a few days ago when I decided it was high time to dust those hooligans for fleas. Fleas!! Of all things, my chickens came down with a raging case of FLEAS!!!
barnie.gif

I think the screaming was probably an even mix of: "Now you decide to do this? Today? Of all days? Woman, it's going to get HOT today! We wanted to play in the sprinkler and you're probably not gonna let us do it now, are ya?" and the ever popular, "You won't know how. You won't know when. But someday, and soon, we're gonna get you for this!"

That evening was really rather comical. I guess the dusting powder changed the smell of each of them so much that they couldn't find their favorite nighttime cuddle buddy just by scent alone! I always wait for full on darkness before Brutus, CB and Little Red are brought in and put to bed for the night. Poor Brutus tried to snuggle up to Brewenna, thinking surely she was Evie in the darkness, and got the surprise of his young life!
lol.png
Brewenna didn't think it was very funny, and neither did Brutus, but I thought it was hilarious!! Y'all should have heard the startled squawk out of both of them!
gig.gif

Which reminds me. I should probably hit them for that second round tomorrow. Oh boy! More screaming and stink eye! Lucky me!

Cetawin: That really bites! I'd find the deadbeats that wrote me the check and make them EAT the dang thing! Right after they handed over the cash they owe you! I mean seriously! How dumb do you have to be to NOT know how much money is in your checking account???
somad.gif
If you ask me, they probably DID know, and wrote the check anyhow!

Poor Spike. I checked the remaining boy I have left this morning and he has a "normal" looking comb....meaning in color only. It is funky shaped. Poor ugly little dude.Missing half his feathers and has an ugly comb. Sigh. I can't remember how many porcelain girls I have and all the chickens were doing the crazy YAY OUT OF THE COOP flapping and flying around, but of the 3 I saw, they were all fine, running for food and bugs and their life when the big girls came out behind them. I really do wonder what is going on with poor little Spike.

I'll wait on the ducks as I want to sell them as a group. The girls are SO. LOUD.

I've got ANOTHER broody. 3rd time since spring for this girl- as soon as the chicks leave she's back at it. Be careful what you wish for- I wanted a lot of EEs/OEs- and that's all the eggs I'm getting right now! Figures- I got the once-a-month araucana egg yesterday, and I put it in the fridge
hmm.png

I have 7 broodies right now. 2 white leghornx hens sharing a single baby LOL, 1 bantam cochin with 7 babies, and the rest are sitting on eggs or air. Just had 2 ladies give up their teenage chicks......I am selling my barred cochin hens who are pretty aggressive broodies. Good at it, but just trying to downsize and found someone looking for cochin hens for their flock.

anybody want broodies? I have 2 white leghorn x broody hens for sale. One survived a hawk attack unscathed! They are good girls
