Well, to tell the truth, the thought had crossed my mind, but not for that reason.

I was thinking more in terms of an honorary type of thing!

Now that you mention it...that really rather fits, doesn't it? *Insert evil grin and laughter here!*

Something killed our Splash Polish pullet, Snowy early this afternoon. I let her out into the coop/run/free range (she was in with the Silkie chicks in a 4x8 sectioned off spot of the big coop) and she no sooner had got out the pop door, when it looks like a Roo got her, or possibly one of our dogs (though the dogs have NEVER done anything like this before) It was only about 30 minutes between when I let her out, went inside to wake DH up, and went back outside. The back of her neck was ripped open, and her beak was full of dirt. I suspect a Roo, as she was layed out like one of them had tried to mount her

She was our favorite of the 4

I was so looking forward to hatching a few of her and Smokeys bebies next year

I have no use or tolerance for mean roo or one that hurts any girls or babies. OFF WITH HIS HEAD!!!!! SnowHunter it could have very easily been a

they go for the neck/shoulder area for an instant kill. But torn open sounds like roo or dog.

Well now I have had an interesting afternoon. This is personal and a big gross so turn your channel now if you are squeamish.

I became suddenly very ill and ran for the bathroom where I proceeded to vomit..blood! I was freaking out needless to say...as I am finally getting some ME time...no husband, kid in school etc etc. I call the doc's office and talk with dingbat who says she is a nurse and she says....

"hmmm that doesn't sound good"

I was calm but my mind was screaming "YA THINK YOU MORON?"

So I went down and doc says sort of chuckling "Yes that medication does sometimes do that to some people". He wrote me another prescription and while I was sitting there thinking and steaming I said "Do you expect to get paid for this visit?" he says "Of course" I said "hmmmm that's a shame my checks have ran away, they sometimes do that to some people"

So I have a new prescription and it has exactly 48 hours to work or I go to the refrigerator for the penicillin.

Good GRIEF, Cetawin. Didn't they mention horrible side effects? I would have saved a little of that vomit for the Dr.'s shoes. Sorry, that was gross, but he deserves it for chuckling.

Don't worry, Jo will get there and look you in the eye, and all will be well.
Yes, she had mind control perfected from the moment she was born.......

Serrin - Lisette and Cosette. French, feminine and good "twinner" names.

Oh, Nicole, I am soooo sorry for your loss.

LadyHawk, I am sorry to hear you are having trouble with meds. The darn side effects make it miserable sometimes, I know. All meds do not work well for ALL people. I guess that is why there are so many different kinds. If one doesn't work, hopefully another one will. Good luck with the new RX !

The first occupants are in the new brooder in the storage garage!

I put linoleum on the floor. It is far from perfect, but it will work well for my purposes. The bottom one will be occupied tonight, too!

I cut the top piece in half, and used hardware cloth on one side, for the heat lamp. I used a piece of wire and wired it in place.

They seem to be happy ....

LOL Beth...should have thought of that. It was the lack of forewarning that ticked me off and then the attitude...so he got attitude in return...the toerag.

Kathy that looks great! I am thinking that is the way I need to go for my bantams....just a little bigger to give them more room. I like it a lot!

Well, it happened again. Except this time, I'm just about certain it was a dog. My poor Speckled Sussex pullet, Frog has a whole chunk out of her back. I only heard her because one of the dogs was over with her and she was clucking. She's barely alive. I got her cleaned up, put some antibiotic ointment on her back and covered it with gauze. She's now resting in a drawer box, next to the indoor brooder, to have some heat from the lamp.

2 in one day, even though Frog is still alive... I'm just heartbroken

The dogs are going away.

The last thing my 4yo DD said to me, before she left with her grandparents, was to make sure none of the rest of the chickens died. God help Me

Oh, no! I'm so sorry. I hope you get the ones who did it.

Emily is down to 4 Dellie eggs under her. Candled today, which is Day 9, and one wasn't developed like the others so I removed it. I'm not really sure it developed at all. The remaining four have big dark areas, but I saw movement in only one of them, so not sure if all four are viable. A few more days will tell. Surely, she can keep just four underneath her big body! Surely!

Make sure Frog is getting water...electrolytes would be a big help. Make sure she is eating too...make a mash out of her food, scrambled egg, yogurt...feed it to her by hand...if she refuses it, make a soup version from ground food and water. Poor poor dear.

Is it one of your dogs? Gosh I am so sorry and so saddened for your little girl.

O dear, Nicole - is it one of your dogs? That is heartbreaking - I hope your girl makes it -

I wish I had any advice to give, but all I can offer is my prayers -
