The eggs under my broody are still intact

I didn;'t mark em or anything, and just was gonna let nature take its course, but I'm so wondering WHEN these darn eggs will hatch so she gets outta her broody trance! I need the room LOL They should be hatching any day I'd think
hu.gif
I'm tempted to put em in my new bator and see what happens
hu.gif
I've candled, but I can't see much, the egg shells are so thick. (usually takes 3 whacks to crack em open on a cast iron skillet!)

What yall think I should do?

Leave them be....let her do her job. It takes 21 days...has it been three weeks she has been sitting on them? Think now...anxious anxious anxious.

LOL

Cetawin.. I'm pretty darn sure its been that long!!!!! I know she's been in the carport for the last 2 weekends, plus about a week in the coop. Though some did decide to lay on her clutch when she took a breather for food n water a couple times... actually, her and her sister are brooding this batch together.. its pretty cute!

I guess I'll just let nature take its course and see how it goes.... I'm anxious though.... I wanna see fluffy butts

Snowhunter, scroll back through your own posts from 21 days ago and see if you were talking about her/them being broody yet. That's what i do! LOL.

My 16 or so olive eggs were set very late on 10/24. Meaning tomorrow night or early Monday would be day 21. However, I checked 1 egg under each of the broody hens this morning so I wouldn't bother them too much....and each had a pip! whoooo.....they've been sitting TIGHT even through the cold nights, so i expect babies by later today or early tomorrow....i will pull all eggs tuesday if they haven't hatched yet. I attempted to check on the eggs under the new broody barred cochin hen and nearly lost an arm....i was BLEEDING afterwards LOL. She is psychotic. Great mom though. I didn't need that skin on my hand.........

Got up early and did tons of chicken chores today. Got all the feeders refilled, waterers cleaned and refilled, extra buckets and jugs of water filled.....waiting until the sun dries off the back steps this afternoon and will put my traction tape down. Supposed to rain 4 days straight this week so I'm gonna need it! Even hauled a few buckets of gravel into the 'dog area' to fill the holes the demons are digging. Even my 13 year old shepherd was digging in the big hole next to the fence last night....crazy dogs.

Last but not least, congrats Kathy! I like the way he has his hand out, giving us BYCers a nice good morning wave

THANK YOU!!!!!!!! Great suggestion, and I see they'd been on em since at least 10/25 if not a couple days more.. so any day now should be hatching

Cetawin... I can see many sleepless nights once I start hatching on a regular basis for me

I'm always checking on the broody, and liftin her up to see the eggs... and lawd she's NOT a happy camper when I do that... Like Nella's, she bout takes my arm off... drew blood a few times too, but she IS a good sitter

so now I hopefully get to see if she's a good Mama
