Thanks, all. My older son came up here to surprise me and take me to lunch and give me some nice lotions from Bath and Bodyworks. My younger one called from the Republic of Georgia and seems to be having a great time there.

Ladyhawk, I gave him a card with your phone numbers on it and told him to call you if something terrible happened to us so my chickens wouldnt starve to death. He wouldn't even hold one so I could take a picture of him with one of my girls <<<pouting here>>>

Lol, SORRY MS KATHY. I have been getting zero done. Do you really want me to try using power tools while on painkillers? Tsk tsk woman.

I need to unhinge my temporary panels and then zip tie them together in the configuration I decided on the other day........just to see if it works out. If so, i will go ahead and make new "correct" panels with smaller wire and shorter so I can step in. Maybe this weekend I will work on building things. My boyfriend is going to be coming back down Saturday and will be here for about 10 days....and my mom is flying in next week for thanksgiving holiday. So if I dont do it now it won't be done any time soon.

Sadly, my boyfriend's cousin......who is in his late 30's....had a stroke and DIED the other day. Funeral is saturday. How sad is that? Perfectly healthy young guy, here one minute, gone the next.

I told Mr boyfriend to prepare himself to help me build chicken pens, and he changed the subject. Last time I mentioned it, he said he would stay inside to play video games while I built stuff outside.

Maybe you need to stop going to the grocery store and stop washing clothes stop make anything
to eat and say that you need some COOPS build so things can get back to normal. My 2 cents.

Awwwww, heck, they are all long gone now .... all out on their own. DH works out of town (home a week, gone a week), but he helps when he is here. I do most of the construction work myself. Honestly, I enjoy it immensely. I don't cook much, as I am home alone most of the time. Don't need many groceries; Marie Callender TV dinners work well.

When all my boys were at home ..... oh, those were the good ol' days. They were all so much fun. We were poor, and I was in college. Each Saturday was family day. I did no school work, and we spent the day together; as our schedules were brutal. We used to travel to little kids wrestling meets around Iowa. My husband was a wrestler, and all the boys became champion wrestlers. I sooooo loved those days. We would brown bag lunch, and I made the boys' wrestling suits. Then, other kids joined in, and I made their suits, too. Blah, blah, blah ........ such fun and warm memories.

Does anybody watch 30 Rock??? Well if you haven't seen it, it's on NBC 9:30 PM eastern time, Thursdays. Can't wait for it tonight!! It's Tina Fey's show. Gonna get a frappuchino, sit down and watch my favorite show!! So I went to PetsMart and told myself over and over again I wouldn't buy a big dog crate for a chicken coop... I did.

It's 5x3 and will hold 4 chickens in the Spring until I get my shed, and after that it'll be a sick chicken coop (and run).

I visited with a neighbor friend of mine yeaterday. Her DH was trying to convince me to take his 3 year old hens to butcher since he doesn't eat chicken. He said he wanted to get more chicks in the spring and I told him about the delawares. He said to put him down for some in the spring! SDWD!

Now lets hope I have some hatch since I already have two people interested

Kathy, I decided to use my temporary panels to make an 8x8 pen split into two, with a hoop type pvc roof covered in a tarp.......and with a small 2x3 hutch in each side. This will be perfect for a broody mom in each, or a pair of bantams or a group of younguns, or or or.

i am going to run to Home Depot tomorrow, buy some gravel to make a level area and then throw it together tomorrow to see what happens.

Hillbilly Hen - You go!!!!! SDWD!!!

Kathy- I found someone HERE with Jersey Giants, but she got her stock from McMurry- she said they are huge, look good and are great layers. Where does McMurry gets theres? I am going to go look at hers after they are done molting, just in case. . .. . .
