Hello SDWDers

Today was productive. Was up before 8am, had the cat at the vet by 8:30 for his biyearly bloodwork, went and picked up some yummy breakfast, bought lots of chicken food and stopped at the local shelter, all before 10 this morning, LOL. Spent some time doing chickenly things this afternoon. got the outside feeders all filled up. Booted the loofah dwarf bantam cochin girl and her buddies out to the big yard, and bumped up the oldest batch of chicks (that is now broodyless) to their very own full sized brooder. They now get the top of the brooder shed, and the crazy RIR/Cochin and her 9 babies get the full bottom. That lady is still craaaaaazy. Some of her chicks are SO CUTE though.

Silkie momma and her 4 babies....and Barred Cochin mama and her 6 babies are all doing just fine.

The big flock did not seem to miss the roosters in the slightest. Of course, I didn't expect them to miss the roosters...would you? ha ha....

My little buff silkie seems to have a broken or dislocated wing. it is sticking up and out a bit. What the heck, no idea what is going on there or what to do about it.

I do have a local family interested in some bantam cochin hens. They want to bring their kids over to let them pick them out.....I bet they would be a great home for the girls. They already have some cochins. And another local lady wanting a pair of girls.

I can feel the downsizing as we speak! LOL.

The rescue won't return my calls or emails, so the adoption of that dog is definitely out. So weird. guess they aren't interested in adopting her out after all. Oh wellllll.....I did decide to maybe look for an older dog elsewhere. I had stumbled across her by accident.....but would love to rescue an old geezer for the holidays.

amy, I loved that picture as well! They look like such a happy family. I used to have hens who would fight over who got to roost next to the big head rooster. Crazy girls.

Speaking of AMY's......both people interested in my cochins are named Amy! What is with AMY's loving chickens? I often trade chickens with Amy an hour west of here and also Amy in SC. DARN YOU AMYS.

Gezzzz, Nella ..... It made me tired just reading everything you did today!

Don't blame those girls for not missing the crazy roosters ....

I so understand what you are saying!

Each shelf (or row) holds 96. There are 3 rows, but row 3 is currently empty.

How can there only be 9 Del eggs in all those? What are they and when can I get some BR's? You need more Dels. I think folks should have to have a minimum number of Dels to post here. No way are we goin to get world domination with 9.

But but but, I didn't even mention the part about cleaning up the carport a bit, going to the bank and through the main shopping center full of CRAZY PEOPLE OMG KILL THEM ALL, then spending half the day at my sister's making dog beds, went out to dinner with her family, played with the niece half the day, went to the pharmacy and grocery store for supplies.

that was my day. Mostly. Now I have laundry going and a giant glass of wine in front of me. Oh yeah, I hit up the liquor store before 10am this morning as well. Supposed to get horrible weather and might get "iced in" so to speak, because of the hill. I may not have any extra layer pellets (TONS of scratch though) but by golly, I have a few gallons of wine and hard liquor. LOLOLOL.

Don't hate me because I'm downsizing! LOL! Don't forget about all the babies growing up! And also, that darn white frizzle was in the nestbox again tonight. Crazy thing.

Funny child story. My niece is 2.5 years old. I was sitting in an office chair at her house, and she was pushing on it and spinning me in circles over and over. She got up some good speed, so I put my arms up....you know, like I was on a RIDE, right? She tells me "Auntie Janelle, put your arms down, THIS IS NOT A SLIDE".

Well alrighty then. Excuse me.

O.M.G!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just got back in from collecting eggs, saying my good-night's to my babies and tucking them all in for the night. Wait till you see the gift Brewenna left for me. Just for comparison, here's a picture of Brewenna's bombshell, with the last 4 days production from Maggie. Cuz I know that at least Kathy will have a good size reference with those.

Now, all by itself. Yes, my hands are relatively small, but I can usually hold three average eggs in one hand at a time without fear of dropping one.....

And a shot with one of Maggie's along side of Brewenna's egg.

You will note that I appear to be having a hard time keeping both eggs in my hand at the same time, without dropping one.

Poor Brewenna. I wondered why she was walking a little strange this afternoon! Had to be that egg! OOOOO!! AAAAAAHHH!!!
gig.gif

Oh, and in case anyone was wondering, Brewenna has always laid a fairly good sized egg, but this one was huge, even for her!
th.gif

Holy cow, Amy ..... Brew laid a quarter pounder, didn't she!
ep.gif
Are you sure that's not a goose egg? You got a goose?

What ya doin' with all those green eggs ..... collecting them? Are ya gonna eat them or just keep savin' them?
lol.png
You could blow them out and make tree ornaments......
