So, then, you have to count your Brahma as 2, right? Bigger is more....

Well....I currently have:

32 LF hens
5 LF roosters
25 Bantam hens
7 Bantam Roosters

So gee, I only have 37 chickens according to Speckled hen! LOL.

I keep my 7 mottleds penned.....and I have 2 roosters in the rooster pen. Plus 3 broodies in the garage......plus 5 younguns in the garage. Leaving 52 in the big yard.

Eh, it could be worse.

I have a twin to your little Shadow......she is on the right in this picture.

I think the family will pick her this weekend. My guess would be HER, my buff silchin, my barred cochin, my silver laced cochin/aracuana, my black frizzle and my red cochin. I have 12 to choose from, but I am guessing they will pick those ones. They are a family with 6 kids, so I expect they may get 1 for each kid.

I had 23 this time last week. I got rid of 11 the other day to the romanian family that gave me chocolate LOL.

The best part?

I have a gold laced cochin cockerel who never grew. He should be about 8 months old now and looks like a 3 month old. Therefore, he acts like a pullet! Whoo! I have a porcelain d'uccle who is teeny tiny (brother to Cetawin's Spike) and so low on the totem pole he acts like a pullet.

My blue mottled boy is in the brooder in the garage with his ladyfriends, who all need heat. He is quite nice.

My Mille Fleur Cochin and EXTRA Mottled cochin are in the rooster pen, being best budddies and bothering nobody

Mr Mottled is in the breeder pen with his ladies.

That leaves only 5 LF roosters and 1 bantam rooster out to bother the ladies. Oh crud, forgot about LH's jerk boy. So 2 bantams and 5 LF. For 57 hens.

Aw, how cute that baby is

NO THANKS!

Don't forget, I still have the 26 babies in the garage brooders.

Brooder 1: 7 chicks......4 boys, 2 girls, 1 MAYBE
Brooder 2: 9 chicks......2 girls, 7 UH-OHs LOL
Brooder 3: 4 chicks......3 boys, 1 MAYBE girl
Brooder 4: 6 chicks......can't tell yet

I'll have plenty of roosters in a month.

Well, of the 26......most I would get would be 13 girls (most likely) right? I'm not sure if 13 would be a best case or worst case scenario at this point!

Kathy I use either the granular or the water soluable for the birds...most often the granular/powder form...it mixes well with their food and their treats. It really is good for all animals and highly recommended by most vets. Economical too because of the mix ratio.
