Congrats on the A's you deserve a party.

Kathy all I can say is oooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhh. The islandic is so cute. As for BR's I've got to get some eggs. I think Scott said he'd send me some for the shipping is it to cold. I'm hatching now. I need to get a grip before I have a house full of Dels and no DW.

Tim...hand her a lap full of Dellie chicks and tell her that she MUST look them in their cute little eyes...they will take care of her for you. *snicker*

Well gosh darn it, I'm missing a chicken. My little partridge cochin. I have someone who wants to buy her so I looked for he tonight to get pix....no bird! I looked around the yard with a flashlight and didn't see anything. I'll check again tomorrow. But I had the dogs out with me tonight and they didn't find anything.....once i think back on it, I don't remember seeing her the last couple days. Hmmmmmmmm.....maybe she found somewhere to go broody? She has been broody here before. but I doubt it. Sigh.

Collected 9 bantam girls and stuck them in the carport brooders so the family can visit them tomorrow and pick out their chickens. Have a buyer for my mottled pair...and a backup buyer for my cochin girls.

Thinking about pulling one of my sale girls and putting her with LH's evil bantam rooster as a pair. Cause I sure don't want him! LOL

The rir/cochin broody was back in the coop tonight. I love how they can be out of the coop for months and I just toss them back into the yard one day and they remember where to roost at night. The frizzle is definitely broody. I will move her to one of the carport brooders tomorrow. YAY ME, MORE BROODIES. She is young and small and I will just get her maybe 3 or 4 eggs. I don't really want any more chicks. It might be time to move the silkie hen outside too.....then I gave group her babies with the rir/cochin babies. SO MANY OPTIONS.

I counted 42 birds in the big coop tonight. There was quite a bit of empty roost space. I am impressed by the downsizing. That isn't counting my 9 girls I pulled for the buyer to look at, but I expect to have them all sold within a week.

Well shoot Nella I hope you find her.

The weather has been too nasty for her to decide to go broody somewhere outside. egads

Laura, You forgot one thing there .....

How many chicks do you want? Hmmmm, just how many???

Nella, I sure hope you find that girl. She must be hiding somewhere. I would bet she has that disease that is at your house ..... broody-itis!

I just had to turn down my DIL's mom, she is giving away all of her chickens. They are all under 2 years, some are just at the POL. She just has too many irons in the fire to be able to keep them. I think my BIL will be getting them though. I have to make sure I have room for the delawares I plan on hatching in the spring.

edited to add... I just made my 1600th post

Well first priority is to keep DH happy since he provides all the feed and such for the gang

he was happy when I went from 40 chickens this summer down to the 22 we have now. Even happier that they are all in one coop. But he does like those delawares!

I need to start "culling" boy chicks. Or not culling, rather picking them all out and putting them together......If I have a large group of chicks, I like to split them up by sex. I think the brooders work better that way. I have a MILLION boys so far. SIGH.

I think I have about 10 girls give or take a couple, in the young groups. I have a lot of definite boys and "some" definite girls. Some REALLY pretty girl chicks. A gorgeous splash, a nice white with blue feathers scattered here and there, a semi-wheaten marked girl and a beautiful laced light light blue girl. And a a couple solid blues or blacks. I need to get new pictures of them all. They're so cute!
