Well, please don't tell him I said so, but it was all I could do to keep from bursting out laughing at him the whole time!
You know how easily a roo's ego and self esteem can be, at the very least, ummm....bruised? Yes, bruised, we shall say. And Chief is no exception to this. He works so hard at being taken seriously. And by and large, he really does have the respect of everyone in the flock. Including and especially the other boys.................
and then along comes Maggie.
She just plucks him right down off of his golden pedestal and and trounces any hope he ever had of looking like "The Dude"!!
Poor guy! If I don't figure some way of keeping Maggie away from his neck, I fear he shall succumb, just as Sampson did! Had I known she was capable of this little bit of devilry, I might have named her Delilah!
*insert evil snicker here*
If it weren't for the fact that Chief doesn't seem to mind her doing that to him, and for the fact that she is already soooo attached to him, and other than the aesthetics of it all, of which I seem to be the only one who has a problem with it, it would probably do more harm than good to separate her from the flock for a few days, maybe weeks. But tell me, where the heck would I put her? And her daughters! The girls are still terribly attached to their mama. I know the boys wouldn't harm a feather on their precious little heads. I wonder if the hackles of three robust boys would be enough to fill that avaricious little gullet of hers?!?!?
I shall just have to sleep on it and think about it again in the morning. G'night y'all. Sweet dreams, and don't forget to hug your chickens!
Oh, and Kathy, if you feel better after that giggling fit, all the better!! Take care sweetie. I'll yack with ya more tomorrow.
