Aw, I got an email from the family that bought the rest of my cochins including my little dwarf "loofah" girl.

Just to say thanks! My kids are in their glory carrying chickens around. The littlest one which we named Dorothy has been in the house each day and had lots of love. She is sweet as can be.

They took 14 birds sunday and 5 a couple weeks before. All bantams for their 6 kids to "baby". Those birds must think they've died and gone to heaven.

aaawwww how sweet. That is nice that they contacted you to let you know what was happening and what was going on.

I love it when one of us finds a truly awesome home for some of our extra birds. I don't feel like I've let them down then. Though I've only rehomed three birds since I started, I'm still glad that they went to homes where they were very much pets and loved accordingly.

Yes Cetawin, he does sound a little bit better! Thank you for asking. I think we got him taken care of just in the nick of time! Before it could become a raging case of pneumonia. He still has the occasional gurgling sound, but his crow is getting stronger and stronger! And his feathers are coming back in in droves!!!

Hopefully, right about the time he goes back to his ladies, he'll have all, if not most of his neck and chest feathers back! Good thing too! Maggie has started in on poor Vivian now!

That crazy girl! I give her extra of everything along with the best of everything and she still goes after everyone's feathers!

There is nothing more beautiful than a Delaware rooster. Brings tears to my eyes. They are the friendliest of roosters in the dual purpose class. I tried to separate my Dels from the other girls but I had two EE's that insisted on being with my Nick. They would wait at the door and the minute I opened it would run in with Nick every night til I just left them there. Fortunately they laid green eggs. Traits like these are what I breed for. Gentlemen Roosters very southern.

They even want to come back in spring and get some "big birds" instead. I told them that I would have some olive eggers ready to go by then and got this back.

Great! We got 27 eggs today!!! WOW!!! 11 from the coop with the Bantams, several that are very tiny and cute and one of the tiny ones is a beautiful blue/green color! The kids love guessing who laid which ones! We really do appreciate it!

Dagnabbit, I want a little blue/green egg LOL. Stupid bird started laying as soon as I got rid of her! Grrrrr.....ha ha ha.

I advertised the roosters for give away and presold some other birds. So I have 49 birds now. 3 roosters going away tomorrow or thursday. 9 birds going either this weekend or next weekend. THAT MEANS, that I will have 37. And I can keep my 12 young olive egger girls and still have only 49. My goal is complete! I actually still have 2 birds for sale and may put a few more up for sale eventually but this is a perfect spot to "rest" on my downsizing.

That Maggie wanted to be a beautician apparently. She is in charge of plucking "stray hairs" apparently. Maybe you could put her to work doing eyebrows or mustaches LOL.

Moved Nugget with her five babies into the Firetower today. Now they have tons of room to run and fly...and the banties are really flying all over the place. I'm going to have to be sure they can only get into the covered upper part of the Firetower pen!

I had a broody who kept her babies for a good 3 months or longer. My half blind leghornX hen. Such a good momma. Her only downfall was not being able to see other birds on her blind side, so it made it harder for her to protect her babies. And when they were little she would step on them if they were on her blind side. But she did well otherwise.

Well I cannot remember the exact age but Nugget kept Roosevelt until about 18 weeks or something silly like that. When I went down there and got Baize and Ebony, I was going to take Roosevelt too and rehome him because that hatch was mine...but Nugget would have been beside herself without a baby so we left Roosevelt with her. She is something else that Nugget.
