LH I am so sorry, but glad that you are okay! Though the wonderful husband story is to die for

Kathy, thank you for the advice. DO I HAVE SHADE? I have no sun! Tall trees in Georgia!

Alright, I think I have my budget worked out...

$900 on shed
$140 on incubator + auto turner
around $90-$100 on chicks themselves.

That adds up to $1,230 or $1240. I might have to put the incubator on hold, though.

Yard full o' rocks :

Nick....get the incubator and hatch your own chicks!

BTW - I'm with Beth on the plastic coop. Very cute, but the sun will tear it apart in no time at all...

Yep, I would but McMurray's chicks are cheap and I can get my chicks-pre vaccinated, and hatching eggs are expensive... And I wouodnt know heat to do with the Roos, etc. That stuff will come later on! And re to the shed comment, but what if my yard gets practically no sun?

I would go with wood over plastic. Not only is wood sturdier, it will hold its value better and is easier to modify. My local Home Depot sells a very plain little 8x8 wooden shed for $499. Pretty sure it "requires assembly". You may be able to pay additional to have it "installed".

Yeah, but the wood sheds that are the size I want are all a thousand bucks or more, and I'm not willing to pay over 900. I want a very large shed, minimum 10x7.
