Roosevelt looks great! WOW, he is a big one, too!

Honestly, Cyn. I just don't know how you do it. I know I couldn't (or I guess I should say wouldn't) take care of a crippled chicken. That is alot of work, I am sure. I can hardly keep up with the healthy ones around here. I mean really, chickens are alot of work. It isn't just feeding and watering a pet. Besides building coops and pens, there are coops to clean, dusting and worming to do, and on and on and on. Really, I don't know how you do it.

P.S. Cyn, I think you need an emu.

I can tell you that I won't do it again. I love Zane with all my heart and he wanted to live so we vowed to care for him the rest of his life, which just may be a long one since he has no real pressures that most roosters do. There is much he can't do for himself and we must remember to do it for him, like trim spurs, toenails, dust him regularly, trim his beak since he doesn't naturally wear it down, be sure there isn't much poop for him to lay in, keep him interested by bringing in his girlfriend on occasion, letting him out in the sun (but he must be watched since he can't run or hide from predators, etc.) I will not, however, do this with another bird. We just tried so long to fix his leg that we couldn't let him go, and he couldn't let go of life. So, no emus, please!

Mrs. Fluffy Puffy :

Cyn, you are such a great mommy! And I know that you're at 49,000 posts now? Didn't we just celebrate at 48,000? Geesh!

Cyn, God Bless you woman! For taking care of Zane and seeing to his every need with a love and compassion that few of us could ever hope to equal. There are individuals that are special from their very first day, and no matter how much our rational mind might argue that what we're doing is wrong, our hearts know the truth of the matter. Zane is one such special individual. I'm so glad that your hearts won the argument with the mind, that Zane is worthy of compassion, love and respect. He is truly a very special boy!

I know I've said it many times before, but it always bears repeating: If you ever find that you just can't take care of him any longer, for whatever reason, please! PLEASE! Send him to me! I would be honored to care for such a magnificent roo!
