A newly hatched chick is wet. It should not be in the brooder when it is still wet. Do you still have another incubator? Is it plugged in and warm? If so, the best thing is to put the wet chick in it, if it has any chance at all.

Okay. It is in my other incubator now, as I had it on for safety. I'm uploading a video if it to photobucket for you.

I put a water base with pebbles in there... It's drinking! And standing, though awkwardly.

Nick,
Take the water dish out of the incubator. The chick does not need that. Just leave the incubator CLOSED! Do not mess with it. That egg shell looks just fine. Just sit on your hands, or go watch a movie. Check on them in the morning. LEAVE THE BATOR CLOSED!

Okay, I took it out. I opened the incubator that has eggs in it very quickly to get the chick out, and all that happened is the humidity dropped by about 10%. So, I poured water in the small hole where the cord for the thermometer/hygrometer, and humidity back to normal. Think I ruined the hatch? One is zipping a little more.

Your humidity will increase as chicks hatch ...... because they are wet. Do NOT add any more water if it is at the correct %. Opening the bator quickly should not have affected it. That drop by 10% was likely just temporary. You can not read the hygrometer immediately. You have to WAIT.

NEVER open the bator while there are pips or zipping. It will dry out the membrane and they will not be able to finish.

It is best to just leave everything alone. If you had your humidity where you wanted it, just leave it. Should not need to add any more water as they begin hatching.

Okay, thanks. I will not bother them any more. I have another one zipping, about 1/2 way done, and now I count 6 other pips.

It's hard not to help, but take it from the experienced hatchers, a chick you think is on death's doorstep will usually rally and be fine by the next day. They need awhile to rest after their ordeal.
