THEN, I REALLY celebrate when they move out.
I cry when they come back.

Ah see I have a NO RETURN policy works much like retail...once it leaves the front door it cannot coming back.

Laura...I had one broody. My salmon favorelle went over the edge back in Oregon. So I called Cyn and "Send Suede eggs I got a broody" so as a Son of Suede was so important to me, the day before they arrived I ordered an incubator just in case. Glad I did to, the witch would not acccept the eggs....she would roll them away, even if I mixed them in with ones she had stolen from the nest boxes, she would pick them out and roll them away...tried for three nights and 2 days...so I picked her butt up, threw her out in the run, closed the coop door and said "No more broody business from you" and put them in the bator and hatched my 2 Delaware girls, my blue orp girl Athena and my precious Splash boy, Thor RIP. Never had one since.

Aaaah HAAA! Well, at least now we know where your curse came from. You ticked off the Goddess of Broodies! You offended her and from that day forward, she cursed you with something akin to a Midas touch in reverse when it comes to broodies and supposedly pullet chicks turning magically into cockerels!

It all makes perfect sense now!!!

Nella...I so admire your building skills

Cetawin and Hillbilly...why is it that some of us have WAY too many broodies and others none?

Here is a pic of my Ellie with a couple of her Dellie chicks at a week old...

She has always been a little psycho, but is a good mama

That is one big Chicken! I couldn't find the babies cause at first I thought they were tennis balls compared to her.

She is just a hatchery Buff Orp...my Orps are my only and original feed store birds.
They are huge and lovable and great layers...I just got lucky I think...they are so awesome
in personality they have really inspired my interest in raising some breeder quality Ameraucanas,
Welsummers, Marans, BLRW and heritage breeds which have been both a challenge and given me much satisfaction.

The original girls are my pets and favorites, though..

Amy I do not doubt that but if a broody will not accept Suede eggs well then she musst not be broody...simple.
