I have a dumb question ya'll

I havea broody hen that has gotten off her eggs - spread them apart with about an inch between them and is sitting next to them. AOver night she got back on and now this morning was doing the same thing. I am assuming it is because it was/is 95 here with a 100% humidity - any one have a broody do tyhis before in the extreme heats?

Usually my broodies stand over them panting if its too hot outside. But they know best, so I would guess the eggs are getting too hot. Will be interesting to see how they hatch out! But I bet she is doing fine.

If that is what she is doing i think that is really neat - i mean nature telling her and well instinct - she was on them this morning again . She never really strays far from them - just sits patiently next to them - God love her. First time mom too - so very interesting ....and until it has gotten so warm i had never seen her leave the nest. So time will tell!

Ink, funny you mention that, I just read somewhere yesterday that broodies do that. I think it's normal. However my broody isn't. Maybe she will today; it should be 100+.

Do not! Repeat: DO NOT complain about hot weather in my presence dear boy!! Not when I'm still firing up the wood stove every night and wearing my heavy wool sweaters all day long!

Be thankful for those nice toasty temperatures! Or have y'all forgotten already how loudly y'all were whining just three short months ago about how cold it was?!?!? Our high temperature forecast for today is calling for a max temp of around 58. That is, of course, provided that the sun can actually cut through all of the fog, clouds and rain!

Me, my chooks, and my garden, all wish it would get up to at least 65 and sunny. Is that too much to ask for? Is it?

Maybe we could split the difference (58 for you, 98 for me)....a PLEASANT 78 would be wonderful. I much prefer the cold to the heat. The heat simply zaps my energy and I can't work in it for very long. AC ran NON STOP until after 11pm last night, and its only on 76

Oh well

Amy, I feel bad for you.

We have finally gotten warm weather. It has been in the 80's! But the pollen is so bad the past couple of days that I have been staying in as much as possible. That's hard since the rain has finally quit.

Scott those chickens are looking nice. I prefer the heat over these cold winters here. I just realized that I have been in MI half my life

I have to show off my new grandson. My son and daughter in law adopted this little guy today. He is 8 weeks old.
