That all depends my dear friend. If Zane comes with Ranger, I'm sure something could be arranged! But, no Zane, no deal. wink lol

LH, that looks like fur on your stove. Could be a mold problem

I had or have two that tried this but the girls were having none of it. It was hysterical to watch them chase the rabbit around the yard. I hope they didn't take off. I think they lived or live under the coop. Rabbits I understand are a good sign there are no fox or other vermin around.

Now for those who have laughed at my "marking" my terrritory for fox or coyotes or whatever? Have you seen the news that they are training dogs to sniff out cancer? A dogs sense of smell is a thousand times that of a human and they can actually smell a persons breath to detect cancers.

So what's my point? I figure a fox or coyote can smell my "markings" pretty far away. At least I hope they can.

My girls like to "play" with the rabbits. NEVER an alarm from them or the roosters. There is one rabbit (pretty sure its the same one) that comes out into the clover field every evening and 2-3 girls walk right up to it. Rabbit hops off a few feet (or into the woods),comes back, the girls come up to it....over and over 'til they get bored.

I've noticed that they no long alarm at Louie, my rescue kitty from the hunting club, either. He lays out in the clover field while they are all out there....no issues.

Guess they learn what is a potential predator and what isnt.

Hey LadyHawk - that looks like "blackened chicken" to me! Its great over pasta....

Have a great day y'all.....PS - its FRIDAY

Like men need an excuse to pee outside, right?

What about squirrels? My chickens love to play "chase the squirrel," around here. Especially 2 chickens; one Delaware pullet and one Lavender Orp project rooster. Hilarious to see them. I think one squirrel here just taunts them for fun.

LadyHawk, there is something seriously wrong in that picture. Furry stove?

Well I will say it gives me an excuse since it a hike back into the house and I do drink alot in the heat.

Now as for the rabbits? I have found a bunny now and then in the spring in the chicken yard and quite frankly I like it. I don't worry about my garden and they do seem to leave it alone. I haven't blocked the front of the coop with hardware cloth simply because I fear trapping rabbits under there. So if they are there fine by me.

Squirrels on the other hand had better watch out or they'll get my famous peanut butter sandwich.

Ah, yes, chicken craters! We have many here. Underneath the main coop looks like the surface of Mars!

Ranger is still with us. And Rex is now realizing that he doesn't want Ranger messing with his women. He isn't mating them, but he doesn't want Ranger to attempt it, either. And Ranger was running for his life most of the day in their pen. I swear, maybe I just need to put Ranger in the pen with his daddy. If Ike will accept him there, he can stay as long it takes to find him a home. I don't need any hatching eggs from that group anyway. I sure don't need a Delawegger fertilizing my super duper quality BR ladies!

Ranger really loves Shelby and Maretta, though. They have beards like he does. Maybe I should move both those girls and Ranger into the main flock. Then Rex will have only Rock ladies, both barred and splash. Just don't want Ike keeling over dead trying to catch Ranger!

Just put a diaper on Ranger and take him in the house.

Now, I know you've lost it. No chicken diapers here, woman! There's only so far I'll go.

I'm up now because I ate something and drank coffee at 8 pm and it sure did a number on my stomach. Can't sleep, but will have to try. My son, who is now in Korea for a year to teach English, left tons of stuff for us to sell and Tom wants to get it out of the basement, so he's been cleaning stuff and organizing it and will be taking it all to the flea market in the morning. He wanted me to go, but if I can't go to sleep soon, no way I'll make it. Next time, peppermint tea and honey, not coffee, and NO food after 7 p.m. I usually don't eat anything that late, but I violated my rule and now, I'm paying for it.
