I so wish I could be there with you Kathy! This really is exciting! How many more yet to come? What are the totals now? Inquiring minds simply must know!

Thoughts and prayers for LH and the safe return or finding of DeeDee! Silly hen! I wonder what gets into them at times.

My avatar is a Buff-barred, not a very clear pic. though, but you can get an idea of the color pattern from it. I wish I could find where I got it from on the BYC I'd try to clean it up some now that I know a little bit more about operating the computer and photoshop

Yes very interesting there on the darker (reddish) chick, there's a good possibility of getting some NH colored chicks too

Cyn....I cannot find her.

. I am giving up until about 5 am and I will be back outside. My arms and shins are cut to ribbons so I am going to take a bath and wash all the blood and stuff off. I was afraid of leaving a bloodtrail anywhere near DeDe and after Midnight I am sure she is not going to answer me or move. I put 2 radios outside one about 30' left of where she went in the woodline...it is on talk radio and the second one about 30' to the right of where she went in and about 10' in the woodline...it is on a heavy metal station....when I left to come inside a few minutes ago the woods were alive with a moron praising Obama and Pantera screaming a grunge sound . Hahahaha. Pray she makes it all night and I will be back outside looking for her before the sun comes up and just so you know....I am kicking her asssss when I find her and then giving what is left to Lancelot to kick the rest of it! I will probably go back out a couple more times tonight with the light and rattle some bushes and such just to help keep predators away...I set the trap down on the other side of the barn too with a can of cat food open in it so hopefully that will draw anything to the opposite side of the property and away from the area she is hiding in.

Kathy congrats on the babies, sorry I am not more enthusiatic but I am worried sick over DeDe.....We will commence fighting over that white chicken tomorrow and you really should take a computer course.....once again you have confused and reversed the names...Ike drools and SUEDE RULES....

So far nothing...I have been outside every hour with flashlight in hand and making all sorts of racket before coming back in. I am cold, wet and beyond tired but I am staying up until at least sunrise. I thought I had found her earlier because Casca was going nuts so I walked him back and forth up the treeline but he wanted to investigate in the opposite direction....I heard coyotes yipping and yowling about a mile away but not any closer than 3/4 a mile and killed one possum in the trap and reset it....hopefully that will keep critters going that way and awau from where DeDe went in the woods on the other side of the 5 acres.

Gosh darn it I just want to see her fat butt walking towards me, my heart cannot take another loss just yet I am not over losing my girls to the heat yet.

I will report back, Bill is taking over at sunrise bless his heart and I am going to get a little shut eye.

LadyHawk, So sorry to hear about DeDe. I sure hope she comes home!

Thank you all for your support and encouragement in this venture of mine. This first hatch of F2s has just been so exciting for me. I'm grateful I have all of you to share this with.

I have 18 F2s hatched. 8 light and 10 dark. Two dark chicks in the first picture are not F2s and are banded.

My plan, at this point, is to rehome all the dark chicks. I just don't need them, and really don't have extra room just to watch them grow. I will keep hatching and doing the same thing for awhile.

OK congrats Kathy - so you will keep the light ones and work with those?

LH - I am worried for you too! I had read another post recently about someone going thru the same reason! Just took off for no reason! Please keep us updated -

I will need to watch the light ones grow out to see what they are. To move forward, to the F3s (which should result in 100% Delawares), I need the Delaware (males) and the Silver Columbian (females) from this hatch.
