Hi everyone- my eyes are finally above water again. Does anyone remember me?

Scott- I have a BR cockerel from Kathy with the most beautiful barring- he is about 15-16 weeks old, and I would LOVE for you to have him. Let me know, I can meet you this weekend somewhere.

Cetawin, send Joleta out chicken hunting - she should snort and blow that silly bird out of the bushes.

Kathy, I am drooling and waiting for my F1's to be old enough to lay.

Everyone else, hello and I hope you are well, I am not caught up with anyone anywhere except Kathy's hatch, so please excuse me!

WOW....she is ALIVE!!

Good to have ya back! And I will take you up on that cockerel if you can hang on to him for me. We are "planting" at the hunting club this weekend, BUT, my territory includes NC and SC so I might just need to plan a "day trip" up to Asheville or something

Glad you're well

Scott- I can most certainly hang on to him for you, no one in that pen is fighting yet. Yet.

It's nice to be back. It's nice to have a little time again. But I have to tell you all. Processing roosters is NOT for me. Nor DH. I have bad dreams about it, so I may spend the rest of my life begging hens off the rest of you instead of raising chicks!!!

Beth I am sorry it was a horrible experience.

. I was not gonna wake the Diva to go chicken hunting, she gets very testy when you wake her and interrupt her beauty rest and then she pouts the next day and threatens to kick at people (cocks her foot menacingly, I ignore her but she scares others. Hehehehehe). I adore her and she knows it, she also knows I will not put up with her stuffs.

. We fight about fly spray, worming paste and washing anything but I win so it is all good.

DeDe is home. Crazy girl was under the porch about 6 am and she would not come to Bill so he sat on the porch swing until I got up at 8 and kept an eye on her for me. Oh that DeDe is in trouble with me and Lancelot gave her the major what for...yowza he was actually a bit rough and she deserved it!

Laura his legs are so yellow...whatcha feeding them? They look great! Mine are about the same age and from Kathy
as well, but the legs are so much lighter...(just posted pics on the BR thread). I really think the lower corn in my
feed plus the intense FL sun is bleaching them out. ALL my yellow legged breeds have light yellow or creme legs.
This confirms our theory even more, don't you think, Kathy?

Love the name Zeb...and Rex, too. Mine has been Zippy early on...he had to zip around the brooder
to keep from being pecked he was so slow to feather out.

It is fun watching these guys grow up

Thanks cpartist and Cyn for the comments. Zeb has an Ester too

I am feeding a mix of Purina Flock raiser and Armada. The only thing about the Armada brand is that it is so fine it is almost like a powder so I may end up getting Dumor instead. I also give my chickens Durvet vitamins and electrolytes mixed in their water. It makes their water look like a very weak lemonade.
I do think that Zeb is heavier than my one year old Delaware roo. Funny thing though, he will not perch on the roosting bars but he and his two girls will lay on the drooping boards underneath. I wonder if it is because he is so big and heavy?

BETH!!!! WOOOOT! You're ALIVE!!!

LH, glad to hear that the wayward wench showed herself this morning! Where do you suppose she spent the night? I'd really want to know why she took off like that in the first place. Surely something had to have spooked her?

Hens her size aren't normally given to flighty behavior. Hmmmmm...strange. But, the good thing is that she's back home where she belongs, none the worse for her adventures in the night. Let's just hope she doesn't make a habit of doing this!

Kathy, if you like, you can send those little black ones to me. On one proviso....GIRLS! ONLY GIRLS!!!
lol.png
I think if any of them started to crow in a few months that Denny would have my guts for garters in a heart beat!
gig.gif
But, you're certainly welcome to dump the GIRLS on me! My boys don't care what breed they are nor what they look like and neither do I! We'd love to have them!

Cyn, if you have the time and are so inclined, could you please give me a call at your convenience? I really need to pick your brain regarding egg issues.

But only if it's convenient for you.

OK, no more time to chit chat. Mom called while I was in the middle of this and she managed to chew up all of my free time.

And now I can hear the boys banging on their coop door, wanting to be let OUT! NOW!!!

Hope y'all have a wonderful day. Kathy, keep those pictures coming girl! They're all beautiful babies! Beth, welcome home!

Thanks Cyn.....

Just thought if any of our bunch had a nice cockerel rather than just letting him go to "anyone" that I could use one

Will still need some hatching eggs as I only have 2 girls and will definitely need a little diversity in this line of BRs. As long as this "line " has been around I'm sure there will be some "inbreeding issues" if I dont

Everything ok at DR today??
