OMG! Poor little Lukka!

And poor Mary! She's so good with her birds, it's hard to believe this actually happened. But sometimes, especially when one has a mama as good at her job as Lukka is, we can take for granted that our girls are always going to take good care of themselves while brooding. I so hope she pulls through with no lasting or permanent damage.

I think it almost goes without saying that this just has to be Maggie's chick. Wouldn't you agree Kathy? I mean, Cosette being Delawegger, in conjunction with Chief's [or maybe even Goobey's] genes, the EE in her wouldn't come out so clearly, would it?

Whatever else she might be, I know one thing for sure....She's just about the cutest little chick we've ever hatched here! And I'm sooooo proud of Prius! She's turning out to be a great little mommy!

Oh my gosh Poor Lukka. Kathy was the blindness and etc caused from her not eating and drinking ie dehydration? If so, Mary needs to do us a post for a sticky to put up in the appropriate forum. That would be good to share with everyone so they know these broodies must be monitored. What do you think?

And for the Nurse in this thread ahem my HOT bath made my traps, back and shoulder feel much better and it feels better this morning WITHOUT Miss Grabby Hands' ice treatment (which are still in the freezer and I am contemplating taking them in and sneaking them into her labcoat when she ain't looking cause I am curious how much she likes being iced *GRIN*)

The dehydration and starvation mode of a dedicated broody can do that. I had to save Sunny the first time (no eggs, no rooster) by squeezing a vitamin E gelcap into her mouth once a day and syringing water into her mouth. She was twisting her head around, couldn't stand and I do think her eyesight was beginning to be affected.
