Oh, Kathy, I missed the pic of the Brahmas! Wow, those are lovely birds! I love my two Brahma girls and they are 5 yrs old now, so no idea how long I'll have them with me. I'll miss Miranda and Caroline when they're gone. What are those? Buff Laced and Golden Laced? Lovely birds. Should be really nice eye candy!

Robin (wekiva), sweet that you have BBS Ameraucanas hatching! Those are more of my aging birds here, Gypsy, Snow and Nora. Gypsy is over 4 yrs old and Snow and Nora are almost 4 now.

You guys should check out my thread where I posted the very first item I hand quilted back in the mid-80's. Please, no hysterical laughing!

I think I have 67 chicks out. Not exactly sure.
Cyn, I have 3 of your eggs hatched so far....one of the four Dottie eggs and the one with the GJ? on it, and one marked BR.

I brought in another brooder tub, of course, but here are some of them before the move.

Kathy, what an adorable box full of fuzzies!

I was wondering if I have to try candling on day 10? Not to sure if I will physically able to yet without being afraid of dropping an egg.

Awesome! The "GJ" is Gloria Jean's egg, so that one should be blue barred. If not, then it's not hers, but that must have been the last one she ever laid before her molt-hers were slightly different than the BRs' and she liked a different nest than they do. She quit laying entirely after that.

If I wasn't sure which BR laid one, I just marked it BR. I like to mark who lays what when I can so that if one particular girl's eggs aren't hatching or there is some issue, we'll know that.

Laura, I like to candle at least once to remove deceased embryos so there is no chance of explosion from a rotting egg. You just take your time, hold each firmly, etc. There's no rush to get them back in the bator because a broody gets off the nest for periods of time, as you know.

Laura, I never candle until day 18. I do it when I move them out of the incubator and into the hatcher.

Cyn, the GJ egg that hatched is that one that you weren't quite sure if it was hers or not. Remember, you put a ? on it. It is still drying off. I will get pictures when they are all fluffy.

Gotta go to work in a couple hours.
