for new range Cyn.

You should have kept Rex . Maybe you will have some Rex Jr. and lots and lots, of baby Rex girls.

If I thought Isaac would tolerate a barred male in the flock with him, I'd keep one, but he is not enamoured with barred hens so I bet he'd try to kill a male. Once I put a broody with her 9 week old barred EE son in the main coop. Even though the boy had a pea comb, hence, no huge red comb like a red flag sticking up, Isaac was chasing him all over the coop and we had to rescue him from the wrath of Ike. I seriously doubt he'd tolerate a BR cockerel in there with him. He'll have to deal with barred ladies, though, because he's getting three of them at the end of the weekend, plus, a couple more when the chicks grow out. Ike is so weird about that for some reason.

We'll see, though. I may try to keep a son of Rex and put him and his sisters in the flock when they're old enough. If Ike will let him stay, that would be cool. I just don't want a separate group to manage, which is why Scott has Rex. Remember, our goal is to simplify. Can't let Isaac go because he is my special buddy. Tom loves that boy-he always comments on how good he is, that he can work around him, pet him, do anything and he is super calm and easygoing.

Cyn, you and Tom feel about Ike the way Denny and I feel about our Chief!

Nothing and no one could ever take the place of our special guys!

Kathy, yes you can have a "gas" stove! But you'll have to acquire a large propane tank and request an LP conversion kit. It's the easiest thing in the world to do. If Mike can change a spark plug in a car, he can do the conversion on a gas stove.

Heck! I did it on our stove when it arrived, and if I can do it, anyone can do it! It's very simple. I love cooking on gas and wouldn't have it any other way.

Cleo is still doing great, by the way. The wound has all but completely closed up now, with only a small spot on the back of her head still open. That was due to a lack of skin to do so, but even that looks really good. No undue amount of redness and no sign of infection either.

Keep those fingers crossed folks!

Enough with the belching, Laura. Gezzzz, what's next; farting online?

I had a double post

That looks almost exactly like mine, except mine is a glass top electric. I hate electric ranges. This is the first time for me, and I miss my old gas range. Can't have one here. We have propane.

Congrats on the new range Cyn.
Kathy, we have propane here too and have always had gas [ propane] stoves. Like Amy said, just need to get the conversion kits.

Amy, I am glad Cleo is doing better.

It's easy to do the conversion on the stove itself, but gas companies will not bring the propane to us. They require a minimum usage per year or they refuse to be bothered. Just cooking with it won't get the minimum. Makes me so mad.

Oh, took pics of Maretta for Wyn, who is hatching a few of her eggs today, so will post here. Maretta's sire is a BW Ameraucana and her mama, an EE. She looks quite a bit like June, though she's smaller.

June for comparison to Maretta (my biological mother's name was Maretta June, which is where the names came from). June has a bit more blue in her body than Maretta.

This is Dottie laying her egg today:

It's not a bad one, Kathy, but not the fastest shutter speed. It's a Nikon Coolpix L22.

Got an email from Scott just now. Keep his younger son, Colby, in your prayers, SDWD'ers. He just found out he has a cyst on his brain, which is the cause of severe headaches he's been experiencing. Scott is waiting on a call from the pediatric neurosurgeon to tell them what the next step is.
