THAT Chicken looks a LOT LIKE one of my NEW CHICKs ( purchased from a Local Feedstore ). Does THAT Chicken have dark "slate-colored" legs ? OR...are they yellow legs?

What sort of Cochin is it?

just wondering......
THE Curmudgeon
She has yellow legs and she is out of a Gold Laced Cochin momma and Partridge Cochin daddy

LH's Cochin
Oh Brandon she is beautiful. Luke and Lizzie will love her. Cheyenne is going to flip. I am going to get pics of the three Delaweggers for you tomorrow. They are all sweeties...one already has a name. The youngest that is just a couple weeks old is named "Zilla" because she was so huge at hatch and is so much bigger than the other babies. hahahahaha

I am back from Florida and settling back in to "home" again. Weird that you take a vacation of sorts and then it takes a week to recover from it. It was great seeing my family (parents, sister, BIL, newphew, son and grandson). My newphew is wanting to come up before school starts back and my grandson is visiting his other grandparents in TN and wants to come here before he goes back home as well. Chicken chores and my poor neglected house are all keeping me busy. I am here and checking in but it may be another few days before I am posting regularly again.

Here is Jack III's pic
He is a handsome fella! All of the birds are nice looking Brandon. The polish has very big eyes!

LH, try to get some rest sometime

I have been very busy trying to get two baby quilts done and then I have a bunch of stuff to get done for chickenstock which is Saturday. I just have to finish the binding on the quilts, thank goodness!
I sold 10 chickens in the past few weeks. Had 14 hatch, one didn't make it though. All coops are closed now except for the big "bedroom" coop.

I cannot believe this. Nugget, the broody mother of all broodies, crushed her chick like some first-timer, not a hen who has been through this 5 times already and is an expert on hatching and raising babies. I did tell LH that she wasn't doing the practice food call for the chicks like normal, though, so is she senile in her old age? She's only just over four years old so what gives?

I'm afraid to buy one and give it to her after this since it didn't die on its own, she actually killed it and isn't acting like herself.

I guess I won't get another Caroline daughter. This is two who have been crushed for no reason.
