I'm really scared. This is the hottest forecast we've ever had since I've had chickens. They're saying 101-104 for three days straight, depending on which forecast you believe. We may freeze those large yogurt tubs and plop three or four of those in every one of the 3-5 gallon waterers so they are like mini-AC units, put fans on high, then put them in the coop for Saturday with doors and windows open so they can't run around.
I feel like cutting a huge hole in the back and covering with hardware cloth, then dealing with a cover for it when fall is upon us. Gypsy and Amanda have to go back to the main coop. It's cooler than where they are, and maybe the bantam broodies can go into that coop where they are with the babies. They aren't as susceptible to the heat stress and the babies will be fine there.
ETA: Both of Dusty's eggs are pipped. Carly's is not. The heating pad egg is chirping. Tom is afraid it is deformed in some way, with dropping it at Day 13, plus all the temp and humidity fluctuations there have been up until now.
