Thanks for all the advice everyone! I picked up three lovely pullets last night from a wonderful woman in chester county, near parkesburg. yay! I love them already! I can't wait to get home and hang out with my girls.
I have no dea what breeds they are ( two look to be RIR or ISA Browns, but the third is a complete mystery), so I'll be posting pics in the "breed" forum soon...
They seem happy in their new home, and my coop got it's first rain-test this morning when it downpoured! They all stayed good and dry.
