Hi all!

So Im super confused. I have 4 Seabright eggs in my inc. Due to hatch on the 12th. 1 little guy hatched just then! (3rd oct) happy healthy and full grown. The lady that posted eggs says she doesn't have quails at all! So I'm wondering if this is normal for this breed or is this little chick a freak of nature that has growing powers!!! Sorry I'm just so confused! has anyone got anything on this?

Can you post a picture? What date did you set the eggs? Were these eggs your picked up locally or did you have them shipped to you? Have you been candling at all?

And just to let you know, it's sebright, without the 'a' :)

Ha thanks!
They were shipped to us. 2 doz. i candled at day 5 to find 20 out of 24 hadn't even started. I was very disappointed but the 4 that had started were well and truly on the way. i haven't candled again since as i didn't want to disrupt the humidity. I set them on the 22nd sept. This is why im so confused. it just doesn't seem possible. the eggs were not sat on for any period and left without heat while shipped for at least 4 days all up. unless the air temp was enough to get them going?

Yeah, that would mean it hatched at day 10, which is impossible, lol. A hen was probably on them before they were shipped, or they were left out in high heat for a while. What were the temperatures when they were shipped? I have had an egg that was sat on by a hen go without heat for over two days and still hatch after I put it in the incubator.

It just seems wayyyy to impossible. we live in such a cold part of the country and temps would have been no higher than 24 degrees cel. and for 4 days? what a lucky little bird to still hatch!!! I think im going to keep it even it its a roo! haha

Lucky bird! And be on the lookout to see if any of the others are getting ready to hatch too. Did this one seem to be much more developed than the rest or did they all look about the same?

All looked about the same but in saying that i was doing it quickly just to see which ones were growing at all, thinking they would all be the same. Crazy! I thought i was going mad when i heard the chirping this morning. Looked over and checked just in time to see it crack open the shell and bust out!
