Seabrights... can they go in the coop with standards and bantams?

My daughter was gifted 2 seabrights... a hen and a rooster... they are beautiful birds but man are they TINY!!!!

right now we have them in a wire dog crate that has been placed in a 4`deep plastic tote (like the ones for under the bed) the idea was that the wire crate would protect them from the other birds that are standards and bantams while getting them used to one another... the plastic tote was to hold all the shavings in so that the wire crate didnt hurt their little feet.. and it has worked great!!! this is normally my ICU set up..

now the time has come we need to figure out something for a forever set up.... can I place them in my coop with the big boys and girls (20+of them) which are standard barn yard chickens and about 5 bamtams or will they not survive?

I kniw people who have all of their bantams and standards together. Some say. The bantams rule the roost. Lol

I am thinking they are to small to integrate and need a small coop of their own. They are indeed very tiny.

I free range all of my birds together, even though they sleep in different coops. My Sebright roo, is the lead roo and chases all of the LF roos all over the yard. He has even wooed and stolen the Brown Leghorn hens away from the other roosters. As my LF roosters get older , the Sebright's status as lead may change. The Sebright is two or three years old, and the LF are seven months, so age factors in on his cockiness. My tiny hens hold their own against the larger birds, too. My situation is different from yours, as I had the Sebrights first, and the LF were introduced as babies.

If you are uncomfortable putting them together, you could do it and supervise to make sure no one gets hurt, and remove the Sebrights if things get rough.

I have 2 Seabright hens & they are housed with all the rest of the chickens, hens, roos, 8 months to 20 months, Jersey Giants to Chinese Bantams, Guineas & Ducks. Doesn't seem to bother them a bit. Looks kinda funny to see them roost next to the Jersey Giants!! They are TINY! I've always housed all mine together & only had problems between THE (bantam) roo & a pair of coming of age Polish Crested Roos (which were VERY aggressive). We rehomed 1 Polish & the Bantam.

If I were trying to integrate new Seabrights into an established flock, I would keep them in the dog crate in the coop for a week or so, then supervise visits between them. Eventually, they should get used to each other. Finally, I would "release" them at night when roosting. Just keep an eye on them. If they free range, they will probably be OK. If they are confined & you have aggressive birds, there may be troubles.

I have 25 hens, 14 breeds, standards and banties all housed together. I am introducing another group of hens - sebrights, ss hamburgs, seramas, lav orps...I find that intro tends to go easier when a larger group (4 or more) go in at a time. Just be to allow intros with their cage in or near theirs for a week or two and keep you eye out for any bullying. Some pecking is normal - but watch that they don't get singled out too much or that any blood is drawn. It is always nerve-wracking intro'ing new birds. So far (fingers crossed) I've had good luck. Hoping for more of that luck as I intro a group of 7 then 14 in the next couple of months...

Never had an issue with bantams and LF. Everyone lives as one.

we have 4 sebrights with a mix of 24 bantam and standard chickens plus a peacock and guinea hen. that are not free ranged and we have not had a problem
