Hey y'all! My name is Kim and my family and I will begin our chicken coop build this weekend (lumber should be delivered in the morning). I was hoping to order my chicks today, but no luck. We are only building a 6x8 coop with an 8x10 run. I am only looking to purchase 5-6 hens and maybe 1 rooster. He's negotiable. My local feed store can order the chicks I want (New Hampshire Reds) so long as I order 15. Does anyone know anywhere in south Georgia who does small orders?? Most require 15 or 25 from my research. I have absolutely no want or need for that many. Thanks for the help and I'm glad to have joined the community!
 
Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! You might check in your state thread if anyone knows of feed stores in the area getting in chicks that have a smaller minimum, or would want to split with you, you might also check if the major chains have one near you, TSC, Southern States, Atwoods etc, most of them have 6 chick mins (at least in store) https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/121387/yo-georgians

X 2 - or you can order the minimum and then select the birds you wish to keep after they have grown out a bit and sell the rest as started pullets which can demand a price that would essentially pay for the entire order.
