My chicks will be going out to their coop when it arrives in 4 days they will be 4 weeks old. I am using pine shavings right now but I would like the best options for the chicks and myself. My coop is going 6x10ft minus a 3ft tack room. Its basically a little building being made my run will be 6x10 ft. the whole thing on skids that I will move through out the yard/prairie. So my main question is what to use on the floor of the inside of the coop?

Best option varies by person and situation. Best option for me is to use the pine shavings that are a result of mulching limbs from down trees located on our property.

If you are dragging around a coop and run of those sizes, I wouldn't want the extra weight of sand tacked on.

Thank you for your response . Using leaves and such from my own property sounds like a good idea.
