Hi!! We are brand new to chicken keeping and are looking to get a coop for our backyard. Right now we are "renting" a coop from a local farm but it is much too small for us. We would like to have between 6-8 chickens ( right now we only have three). So my question - we have NO experience or skill with construction so we are looking to buy a prefab coop and run. After reading so so so many bad reviews of the coops available I am terrified to buy one now. Can anyone recommend where we could get a good sturdy weather proof coop and run online. We are looking to spend around $700.

Any help would be most appreciated.

As I mentioned we are not construction capable so the shed kit conversion doesn't really work

Welcome! Try craigslist, maybe there will be someone building decent coops or sheds there. Eight hens will need 35 to 40 sq. ft. in their coop, and then a run. I also think that a shed type building is a good way to go. Find a local carpenter/ handyman to help. Rebuilding after a disaster isn't better!

I've also seen some people on BYC who make and sell coops. Maybe make a post that you're looking for someone here who does it? You'll probably get more bang for your buck.
