Under current laws, three chickens are allowed on a standard lot with an additional bird allowed per thousand square feet over that. Roosters are allowed as long as they don't make a nuisance of themselves under the noise ordinances. The city wants to increase the number of birds allowed to 8, and ban roosters entirely.
