Sebastopol Geese Thread !!!!!!!!!! SHOW YOUR PICS !!!!!!!!!!

I never had such a hard time hatching geese, and even ducks, as this year. Next spring I won't have to be away for so long, so I hope we have better luck.

These babies are driving me crazy though- I wish they'd feather in faster!!!!!!

Now that I know what I was doing wrong, I will probably be BURIED in babies next year.
Looks like I am going to need to buy some curlies before next breeding season though. Unless I can get Bumble to actually like a goose for a change! First it was a gander, then my Orp rooster, and now he's settled on a scovy. He even convinced her to move in with him.

I hatched out over 30 babies of my own last year and sold a few boxes of hatching eggs.... this year is really bad.

I can't get my larger eggs to "dry down". I am misting and cooling them and have been dry incubating. Fertility hasn't been an issue until the last part of the season.

I have five more eggs under Lola and four in the incubator. I put my Lola and Gary eggs in the empty water pan in front of the fan to see if that will help them. We'll see.

I need some wing advice. My older white gosling is just finishing getting his flight feathers in and he has been letting his wings "hang" a lot which I have read they do when they are blood filled and heavy. Well the last couple days it has started to look like the wing tips are twisting out when he readjusts his wings against his body. I don't know how to tell if it is angel wing and can be wrapped to correct or if it is TWT and there is nothing I can do. He is out of two curly parents.

They get a big scoop of mazuri waterfowl maintenance twice a day in their pen and free range all day on grass and weeds. I didn't realize until yesterday that the naughty little boogers were sneaking into the rooster pen and eating the flock raiser pellets!! UGH! So I have been putting the butcher roosters feed up during the day but I wonder if snarfing down all that flock raiser is causing his wing problem? I can try to get pics if that will help. If so should I take them with his natural wing carriage or should I unfold the wing and take a pic?

Thanks so much everyone for any advice!!

Took a bunch of pictures of the geese yesterday and found a pretty good pic of what this guys wing is doing.

Josie, it looks like TWT from that picture. See how the tip of the wing tucks, but three-four feathers in they start to twist around?
Well darn.

That's no good, right? So I guess I need some smoothies in the gang to fix this problem. Is it possible to re pair birds in the fall if I can find some smooth breasted whites? These two are so attached to each other....Does anyone know where I might look for a smooth breasted white? I had a lady about two hours south of me this past spring that had a few smooth whites but she never got back to me and I didn't want to keep calling and bothering her.
