Sebastopol Geese Thread !!!!!!!!!! SHOW YOUR PICS !!!!!!!!!!

Yesterday my 2nd bacth of goslings hatched. Out of 9 eggs 8 hatched and these were the one I hit the off button on the incubator and found it much later in the day. Plus the dog hit the off button by sniffing the incubator. I feel extremely lucky that many hatched. Wil get pictures later.

Congrats RURU! Great hatch!

What is a good average number of eggs a yearling Sebastopol goose will lay? I got my blue pair the first part of March - my girl has given me an egg every other day. I haven't had an egg for four days. I know the girls can sometimes stop and then start again. I always leave one egg in her nest - hoping to keep her laying in the same place. I just wasn't sure how many eggs she might lay her first year.

The first 3 eggs were not fertile (one was a double yolk)....... Number 4 is looking great ..... 5 and 6 were not developing...... 7, 8, and 9 are looking good!!!!!

Well I had hoped to show veining on my sebbie eggs.....But I was always thinking I needed a Gander.... I had 3 sebastapols and 2 hug out together, so I though well I have 1 girl and two boys. Then I started putting every egg laid into the incubator.... soon I learned I had 2 girls and the day about a week ago I found three eggs on the same day, I knew I needed a gander. We picked one up Monday so hopefully soon I will see veining..... Now based on the behavior of the gander and his length of neck, there is no doubt that next year I will know if I have an upcoming gander or not and hopefully much earlier as well.

Here are the three girls:

And the new gander.

He looks small but it's how hubby is holding him. He didn't want to be bitten, but Andy, the gander, managed to grab a pen out of his pocket!!! Now I'm praying for babies!!!!!!!

Just wanted to let you know that the Poly-vi-sol worked like a charm on the wiggly neck one! I can't even tell it apart from the others now. I will send a pic soon. I think I have 3 girls and a boy! (They are whites.) What luck!
