Sebastopol Geese Thread !!!!!!!!!! SHOW YOUR PICS !!!!!!!!!!

hatched a few dozen already lol. Had eggs in November first babies on ground December. Right now I have 1 female white sebbie gosling here and that is it. We shipped three boxes this week for a total of 10 goslings. Will be done with the whites by mid March most likely. Hubbies dewlap toulouse are laying now so perfect timing to have the whites be slowing down.

oh and just added this to the mix. Dedicated goose incubator with 5 drawers, each holds 50 eggs max.

OMG!!!!! That's alot of eggs!

I haven't gotten any eggs here yet... but honestly I am glad.. the weather it crappy for baby geese.

I would have to because there is no more room in the dog room. or the living room.. lol
LOL

Well, this morning as I was turning the goose eggs I heard cheeping coming from somewhere in the 'bator. Sure enough after looking around I found a lone chicken egg that was pipped. The poor baby isn't doing too good. One eye is covered over with the sac, it has labored breathing, it's panting, and the poor baby hasn't absorbed most of his yolk yet. I don't think he's going to make it, but I have my fingers crossed.

No update on the two goose eggs that are in lockdown...I'm driving myself insane..as I keep thinking one of the eggs moved, or I saw movement. *sigh* I'm not going to get anything done today with my nosed pressed up against the hatcher! LOL

The little chickadee was still alive this afternoon. I took him out of the bator, held him, and gave him a drink of water while I turned, misted, and cooled the goose eggs. I tried to take most of the dried sack off his back, but I didn't want to hurt the poor little thing. Tomorrow, I will probably bring him indoors. I'll be home alone, so I can spoil him. Heehee

Aww, I'm sorry about the Silkie baby!

Hey all, this is my first real year separating the geese and getting serious about hatching. I have a trio of white sebs and both geese have bald spots on their heads. Should I worry? They have little red spots on the skin, like he is grabbing them to breed, but no open wounds. Is this normal? I think this gander is pretty diligent in his breeding. All the eggs from this pen are fertile!

my gander makes his girlies bleed (and get bald) every year

... however they always heal quickly when they begin to set and by summer you cannot tell anything even happened
