What color are these? They used to be gray but now , except for their messy feathers, they are a brown? tan? taupe?buff? I don't know, but it's not gray.







 
They are grey. They fade throughout the winter and summer and different shades come into the feathering. Also in greys you have different shades of grey. So do not worry you have greys. You will see when the new feather's come in when they molt.
 
Thanks. I don't care if they're gray or purple, LOL. I was just curious because I was told they carry a buff gene . They just got a new tub, too. But all they've done so far is chew on it and dunk their heads!

Only males can carry buff. Buff is sex linked recessive. A male can carry one copy of the gene (and be another color) and pass it to his offspring. A female cannot "carry" buff, she will display the color.
